Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Relay for Life has indeed broken it’s previous fundraising record and stands to continue to rise.
The latest tally from the May 11/12 event shows $520,000 dollars had been raised, that’s the highest total in the 21 year history of the event, surpassing the previous record amount of $514,000 raised in 2008. The event day total was in itself a record as $500,000 had been collected as of the end of the event, but the $20 grand that has been donated since then has put this Relay for Life at the top of the record books.
The second challenge is to make the Prince George event the number one event in the Country. Last year, P.G. placed second in fund raising, behind Coquitlam which raised $550,000. The Coquitlam event is set for this Saturday.
There is still an opportunity to support the P.G. effort as donations will be accepted until July. Donations can be dropped off at the Canadian Cancer Society office, located at 1100 Alward Street, or can be made online. To donate online, visit www.relaybc.ca and select Prince George from the drop-down menu at the top right of the page.
