Thursday, June 20, 2013 @ 3:49 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Four initial attack crews and a regional wildfire coordination officer from the Prince George Fire Centre are heading to the Yukon today.   They are among 23 BC firefighting personnel being sent to the Yukon to help battle wildfires.

Initial attack crews are made up of three wildland firefighters. This type of team is usually assigned to newer and smaller fires.

This is the third out of province deployment for BC firefighters this year.

Under the Mutual Aid Resources Sharing Agreement, the deployment costs will be covered by the jurisdiction receiving the aid.
