Pacific Western To Meet Transportation Needs For 2015 Winter Games
Pacific Western Transportation signs on as official transportation supplier of 2015 Canada Winter Games
Prince George, BC – Meeting the transportation needs of the 2010 Vancouver-Whistler Olympics should hold Pacific Western Transportation in good stead, as the company signs on to supply similar services to the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
Flanked by two regular-length and one mini-bus at an official contract signing ceremony outside Canada Games House on Quebec Street, PWT President and CEO, Michael Colborne, says, "It seems to be only natural for us to be the official supplier, since we’ve been such an important part of the Prince George community and region for so many years." Colborne points out PWT’s subsidiary, Diversified Transportation, provides school bus service to School District 57, the company is the contractor of choice for BC Transit in the city since the 1970s, and is the preferred contractor of the Northern Health Connections bus service. "So we are your local ‘people transportation’ expert and our goal is to leverage all our experience, especially our 2010 Whistler transit experience, to provide the best in quality and safe transportation services for the 2015 Winter Games."
To that end, the company has also provided the Games with its first staff secondment – PWT’s Colin Hoffman arrived in Prince George from the Lower Mainland last week and will spend the next 19-months working out of Canada Games House to plan and organize transportation services for the two week event just 564 days from now.
"Our event runs on deadlines, timelines and results and, therefore, reliable and trusted suppliers are highly important for the success of our Games, " says Stuart Ballantyne, CEO of the 2015 Canada Winter Games. "Logistics will be the paramount aspect of our Games as we move forward and, certainly, transportation flows as one of the major parts of our logistics." Ballantyne says Pacific Western’s 40-years of experience gives confidence that the company’s participation will help make the Games a great success.
Games Director of Revenue Generation, Todd Doherty, says today is another great example of the dedicated and enthusiastic partnerships that will make the Games ‘magical’ for the more than 15-thousand participants.
