Fort Nelson, B.C. – The Northern Rockies Regional Airport is getting a $250 thousand dollar grant from the Northern Development Initiative Trust.

The grant will go towards the upgrades of the parking lot at the airport, including the introduction of pay parking facilities at main parking lot, expansion of the existing infrastructure, and the development of rental car parking, secure company parking and leased staff parking.

Vancouver to Prince George to Fort St John to Fort Nelson to Watson Lake to Whitehorse …. then return.
That was the 737 flight every day some thirty five years ago …..
I flew it many times.
Are we going forwards or backwards?
They are looking to attract cargo traffic!
Increased traffic are charter flights moving gas field workers.

So how much will this cost? Why is it a grant instead of a low interest loan?
1. introduction of pay parking facilities at main parking lot,
2. development of rental car parking,
3. secure company parking and
4. leased staff parking
Those are all businesses which will return money to the operation. That is why I ask the question.
The business looks like it is going to be subsidized, or is the grant going for some other purpose?
