Prince George, B.C. – It was a store that was supposed to set up in Prince George several years ago, but a change in ownership meant a change in plans.
Today, Wholesale Sports will officially open its doors.
The 34,000 square foot store at 15th and Victoria is the latest addition to the Wholesale Sports chain. This store brings to 12 the number of Wholesale Sports outlets in Western Canada.

At peak season times, the staff compliment will be 50, and 90% will be local. “We conducted some job fairs and picked the best of the best” says Glenn Bingley, the Chief Operating Officer for Wholesale Sports. He says staff were chosen based on their knowledge of outdoors life, especially in this region, and their commitment to customer service.
The Prince George store will stand apart from others in the chain as it will have more focus on hunting than any of the other Wholesale Sports outlets in Canada.
The grand opening is set for 9:00 this morning. Bingley says the company is very proud to be opening in Prince George, providing employment, and being a positive piece in the revitalization of the downtown area.

Are the jobs mostly full or part time?
If there is 6 or 8 staff on at one time, that will fill the parking lot.
Sure glad they “picked the best of the best” by hiring “Mustachio”. Getting fired from a company like Northern Troutfitters/Nechako Outdoors whose customer service is almost non existent wasn’t a red flag? I was really looking forward to this store so I could shop somewhere with some service which the previous outdoor stores mentioned seriously lack. Support Local by shopping for your fishing gear and getting above and beyond service from Dan at the Northern Hardware fishing counter. If your looking for hunting gear no one beats Corlanes and Backcountry in Dawson Creek and Fort St John.

My experiences with Nechako Outdoors have been very positive with multiple staff providing excellent advice and service.
Shop local and not DC or FSJ as SuperDave suggests will create jobs, spinoff jobs, and the volumes for quality businesses to remain in our city.
