Matters’ Inquest Resumes

Prince George, B.C. – The inquest into the RCMP shooting death of Greg Matters resumes this morning, with Matters’ mother, Lorraine returning to the stand.
On Friday, she testified she begged police officers not to kill her son after she was arrested at gun point, dragged 50 yards and injured as an officer wearing fatigues arrested her on her farm while she was setting off to see her son in his cabin, receiving permission to do so by S/Sgt. Brad Anderson.
"I was begging for my son’s life," she said. "I knew they were going to hurt him bad because of what they did to me."
Matters went through the events leading up to her son’s death.
Deeply emotional she described the night she woke to the sound of a loud vehicle in her drive at 3 a.m.
She described the ensuing chase, altercation and involvement of the police.
She said the intensity of the reaction to what amounted to an altercation between brothers took her by surprise.
Earlier on Friday, Greg’s borther, Trevor was on the stand. He broke down on the stand several times as he spoke of his distant relationship with his family. The relationship with his brother included conflict, beginning when they purchases land together.
He denied that he ‘spun donuts’ in his mom’s yard, and shared, for the first time, information he invited police to arrest him after learning that was the only way Greg would come in.
Coroner Chico Newell says there are many witnesses yet to be heard during this inquest, perhaps some not yet named on the witness list.
This morning, Lorraine Matters will continue her testimony and will face cross examination.
Several RCMP witnesses remain in queue to testify, including the Emergency Response Team member responsible for choosing lethal force and ending Matters’ life.

A lawyer told me, a thousand lies could be told, but there is only one truth.
A wise person once said that the difference between a lie and the truth is the point of view.
BTW, we cannot even get at a simple “truth” or “fact”, and that is whether Matters was shot in the front, the back, or the side.
In the most recent local media article at the end of testimony last week, it continues to say he was shot in the back.
If we cannot even get that straight from a pathologist who would have examined the body and determined the entry and exit wounds of what appears to have been two bullets, how can we expect to get other events straight?

I find it very disturbing that the pathologist does not reveal how the bullets entered the body of Greg Matters.
Upon hearing on the radio today that the guy got shot in the back really speaks volumes. Thereby lessening the already less than miniscule respect I have now for the RCMP. Can’t tar every one with the same brush? Watch me!
Harbinger, I guess that’s why cops hate all civilians like yourself.
