Heavy Snowfall Warning Continues

Tuesday, December 10, 2013 @ 11:46 AM

Prince George, B.C. – The heavy snowfall warning remains in effect for Prince George, the Cariboo,  Williston , MacGregor ,  and north Coastal regions.

For Prince George, Environment Canada now says between  15 and  25 centimeters of snow  is expected to fall on the area  by Wednesday night.

The snow is the result of an intense Pacific frontal system moving in from the Gulf of Alaska  that will combine with a cold Arctic airmass over the BC Interior. and produce heavy snow over much of Central B.C. interior.

The forecast calls for snow, heavy at times this afternoon, more overnight, up to about 10 cm.

More of the same tomorrow,  with snow  also in the forecast for Thursday and   a 60% chance of flurries  on Friday.  Then, back to more  snow on Saturday.

I’m basking in sunshine. No snow here.
Any snow fall under 6″ is a skiff!!
Up to a foot is normal and expted every winter.
Snow fall wornings for the most part news fillers and serve little practical purpose.

I rest my case!!!

sounds like a forecast of snow for the winter, hmmmmmmm.
Everyone drive carefully, there is nothing that important to kill yourself over.

Snowfall warnings are good things … lets the skiers plan for worthy road trips :)

Haha exactly anotherside – I’ve already reorganised my weekend schedule to free up a day.

wax your boards, people.

“Up to a foot is normal and expted every winter”

On average, PG receives a little over 200 cm of snow a year and that is spread over a 5 month period, so say 40 cm per month.

Based on averages alone, it is not normal to get a 30 cm dump all at once. I agree that it does happen with enough regularity that it isn’t a shock, but I think it’s more than fair to report when an accumulation like that is expected.

If anything, it should be a sign for the city to get the equipment ready . . .

“Snowfall warnings are good things … lets the skiers plan for worthy road trips :)”…
Woohoo Powder Thursdays at PK :)

NMG: the equipment is ready but the workers are going to go on strike! We probably won’t really notice anything different!
