Come on, there are a lot of slippery intersections, think ahead and slow down.
Relying solely on human judgement is risky at best. Best practices say avoid human error as much as possible by properly equipping your vehicle for the conditions.
Expecting humans to always be alert and always make the correct decisions is also a bad decision.
This winter i put on blizzacks with studs.
Soo nice. The all seasons go back on in may.
I will never run all seasons in the winter again. However, drive according to the road conditions. Dont expect to stop fast at an intersection, sneak up to it. K, im done now.
The snowflake isn’t a requirement. I ran all seasons up north for 30 years with absolutely no incidents. I use good studded winters now and they are awesome.
The driver is the biggest issue. I trust myself completely. I do not trust others at all.
To clarify Loki, studs do not a winter tire make.

And yes you have to be careful with rental vehicles. You have to specifically request winter tires from the rental agency, or you’ll end up with all seasons. Some rental companies do have vehicles with winters available, but they’ll charge you extra – $10/day extra at Enterprise!
will just take one ICBC stoke of the pen to say
no snowflake no coverage. only a matter of time. Second set of tires for me. Storage rack, impact gun, I’m in the tire change game twice a year.
New winter tires with studs and the attention span to remember that it’s winter and stopping distances are a lot longer. I pay extra special attention when I am approaching a very busy roadway from a cross street. Everyone should!
would sure help a lot if the intersections were sanded more frequently.the city had money to water trees and the soccer fields even when it was raining, so why not do the roads before there are problems like the one above.
I’ve been running all seasons for 30 years of driving with no accidents. Winter tires are great, but if you drive like an idiot, your tires won’t save you.
The tires don’t make the driver…it’s the driver knowing their vehicle and driving for conditions
Well, hopefully they’ll think about that the next time they drive!
i thought winter tires were required on major highways during the winter.
I came through this intersection just after it happened. I could see two sand trucks by the happy trails sanding. I slowed right down and had to move into the right lane b/c the truck was blocking my lane. Just as I got to the yield sign a van pulled out along side of me off of sinitch, didn’t bother looking. I then had to pull over towards the truck, run over his broken glass and truck parts. If this a-hole that pulled out without looking, had side swiped me which he came awful close to doing, he could have pushed into that truck and van. There were 5 people standing around the van this idiot could have caused me to kill the people standing around. It shook me to the core. So it came very close to being a 4 car collision.
