LNG Proposals Moving Through CEAA Process
Prince George, B.C. – Two proposed LNG projects are making their way through the process with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency.
First, the CEAA is calling for comments to help it decide if there needs to be a federal environmental assessment for the proposed Woodfibre LNG Project located 7kms southwest of Squamish.
The project site was a former pulp mill and already has industrial zoning. This project calls for the development of a natural gas liquefaction facility and an LNG transfer facility to enable marine shipments of LNG. The plant is expected to produce between 1.5 and 2.1 million tonnes of LNG annually and when operational, provide 100 jobs.
If it is determined there is a need for an environmental assessment, the Province of B.C. has requested the BC environmental assessment process be used instead of the Federal process. The Federal Government would still have the final say on the project.
The CEAA has announced funding for several groups taking part in the environmental assessment of the proposed Prince Rupert LNG project.
This project would see the development of a natural gas liquefaction plant and associated port and infrastructure facilities at Ridley Island . This facility would be developed in two phases, with an eventual capacity to export up to 21 million tonnes of LNG per year.

So why is the money given to the bands to study this 5 times more money than the other groups get? The band should just have a group of people studying this the same as the other interested parties so I don’t see why they need that much more to do the same job.
Suzuki foundation now there is a laugh riot. I wonder which of his houses Suzuki is spending Christmas?
This is a bit off topic but not by much. Is this the world NGO’s and misinformed greenies have for us
New British plan will pay people to be âready to do nothingâ to help with energy crisis. This energy crisis is brought on by the shutting down of coal fired plants with no viable alternative.
