Official Opening Of Outdoor Ice Oval
Prince George, BC – Volunteers with the Outdoor Ice Oval Society had their hands full yesterday – with shovels – as they worked to clear the surface in preparation for today's official opening…
Free hot chocolate, music, and speed skating demonstrations are part of today's planned event between noon and 3pm. (photo at right shows oval being flooded earlier this month courtesy J Campbell)
Members of the Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club will give city residents a first-hand look at the sport starting at 1pm and a learn-to-speed-skate session with certified coaches from the club will begin at 1:15pm. The club will have a selection of skates, especially smaller sizes, for those interested in trying long blades. And nordic blades will also be available for those with cross country ski boots.
The Outdoor Ice Oval Society is thanking all the volunteers for their hard work in preparing the ice and the City of Prince George for its support – Enhance PG helped to fund today's event.
