Oh What A Night In Prince George
Prince George, BC- For many of the RCMP officers on duty New Years Eve and night it will go down as a memorable evening.
The police received 114 calls for service including four weapons complaints. The first weapons case came in at 1.30am. It involved a man threatening people near the Husky on Central. The intoxicated man was picked up bleeding from the hand from suffering from a self inflicted wound. He is in custody.

In total 12 people are in the RCMP cells , six of them for being intoxicated in a public place.
Just before midnight police received a call of a missing person who had wandered off in the bush on the Blackwater Road west of Prince George. The man eventually fired three shots from a rifle which allowed police to establish his location. The officers snow shoed into the area and found the man suffering from Frostbite and Hypothermia. He was taken to hospital.
On top of all of this, police were still dealing with three complaints of suicidal persons at 7.00am. today, Jan.1st. In all seven complaints came in of suicidal people in the city . Police say this time of the year can be very difficult for people facing difficult circumstances.
Meantime the Traffic section was out in full force, five, twenty four hour suspensions were issued. There also were two immediate road side suspensions issued. The traffic section made several drug seizures and also picked up one man on an outstanding warrant. More than 100 violations tickets were issued on the New Years Eve shift. In excess of 400 vehicle were checked during the sweep. The good news was that not one impaired driving charge under the criminal code was issued for impaired driving.
Then there was good news, while police were attending to loud parties , assaults and disturbances a constable patrolling near Foothills and 15th came upon a dog running loose with a concerned citizen in hot pursuit. He pulled over attempting to help the man leaving the door open to the police cruiser. The dog promptly jumped in and then did not want to get out. It took a trip back to the office where the Watch Commander removed the dog , a 13 year old friendly sheep dog named " Luke" and returned him to his owner. Police are also looking for the owner of a small white fluffy dog that was badly injured and found near highway 16 near Tyner Blvd. The dog is at the Prince George Veterinary Hospital.
To call it a normal night, might be a bit of an understatement.
