Some People Still Without Power In The Area

Saturday, January 4, 2014 @ 4:04 AM

Prince George, B.C. – If B.C. Hydro’s estimate holds true, 73 customers in the Sinclair Mills area east of Prince George will have been without power for about 64 hours by the time electrical service is restored.

The power went out just before 8a.m. Thursday during the snowstorm that blanketed the region.  Hydro figures its crews will have the situation rectified by about 4 this afternoon.  In the meantime, customers in small pockets to the west, north and south of the city are expected to have their service restored by noon today as Hydro linemen repair the lines that were brought down by trees and heavy, wet snow.

More than 1200 customers, primarily in the Chief Lake-Ness Lake and Upper Fraser areas, had to make do without power for prolonged periods in the wake of the snowstorm that rolled through the area before heading down to the Columbia and Okanagan regions.

Getting pretty cold out there. I suspect that most people in Sinclair Mills will have wood stoves, so they shouldn’t freeze to death, however being in the dark for three days is not a good thing.

It seems Hydro does not have sufficient employee’s to keep up with the maintenance of the transmission lines. Especially tree trimming. They like the City work on the hope that it won’t snow, and if it does it will be very little.

Perhaps they need to spend more on maintenance and less of high flying, management.

If I were to have chosen to live in a location like Sinclair Mills, I would have made sure I could be self sufficient for much longer than 64 hours.

Damn straight gus: If you wanna live in hell’s half acre, don’t be surprsed when things go to hell. That being said maybe you should move way way south so you and your other loudmouth know it all pals like dragbagginassmamaster, seagullone, and colon525 et al can take a long lingering lick on my hardworkin’ butt trying to keep fools like you with too much time on your hands safe from your own stupidity. Why don’t you quit slamming everyone that’s trying help your sorry asses and Just get a LIFE.

I’m with Sandman on this one. Everyone is an expert on the conditions with hydro, the roads and the proverbial end of times in the 250. Get off you damn couches once in a while and make things better. If you can’t do that then you should keep your 250 pie-holes shut! I lived in Sinclair for years, Upper Fraser for years, and now live in Tabor lake. It’s northern BC and get used to it. We have winter (shocking), snow (shocking) and cold weather (also shocking) and should be able to deal with it. It’s not about who isn’t doing what, it’s about who can’t deal with northern BC.
