A Tip Of The Hat To Someone Who Should Be Noticed
Last week when Integris Credit Union announced it will be pumping 25 thousand a year for the next three years into the athletics program at UNBC, it prompted me to have a look at just how much a part of the region Integris Credit Union is.
A bit of poking around discovered very quickly that this institution clearly wears its support for the communities that it serves on its sleeve. That shouldn't go unnoticed.
Set aside the contribution to UNBC for a moment and look at just a bit of what they have done in their various communities.
The Phoenix Transition Society , a new kitchen , a new fence built by staff, along with staff, the Integris Board of Directors and an award of 10 thousand from Concentra Financial in Saskatchewan which resulted in $35 thousand dollars to Phoenix.
Big Brothers and Sisters , a three year program to purchase two vans for the after school program.
Front and center when the community garden was developed on Victoria Street
Wonder how the CF -18 came to the Quesnel Air Show? Integris sponsored them there .
Again in Quesnel through "Support Your Girls" mthan 68 thousand dollars raised over three years towards the eventual purchase of a digital mammography unit for GR Baker hospital.
In Vanderhoof , Integris staff helped launch the Vanderhoof version of the "24 hour Relay for Life" event.
You can go on and on, finding examples of where Integris has been a part of the many communities in which it works, lives and does business.
Ft St James, Vanderhoof, Quesnel, Clinton and Prince George are where they centered in but their work goes well beyond these regions.
Hard to believe that Integris has assets under administration of over 1 billion dollars.
We often look around for people , business and leaders that we should acknowledge. You very often miss the people who work hard to earn the respect within their own community and who make our community just that much better .
Without a whole lot of chest pounding, Integris is just such a business in our community.
I'm Meisner and that's one man's' opinion.

I would also like to mention that Integris and Spruce Credit have supported the efforts of our society as well and they have our gratitude.
We’ll deserved recognition. integris returns a lot of its profits to the communities it represents. It also encourages it’s employees to actively support many community groups through volunteer time..
Credit Union is run by a bunch of cronies. If your not with the “in group” no support for you.
Nice to hear how the “cronies” have helped in our area.
Nice thing is they arent out flag waving about all they have done.
Whirly girl.. there does seem to be quite a few groups in the “in group” but guessing your group isnt.. I am sure HSBC, RBC, Scotia or TD will be more than willing to hand out what ever you need.. after all they only make billions off of us, best part is hardly any stays in PG.
If by ‘in group’ you mean people that have taken the time to go and introduce themselves, then yes. It’s called relationship building. You can’t just ask for a several thousand $ handout over the internet and expect results. Try breaking out of your shell a bit.
and thanks Ben for the good news story. Integris does wonderful work and I’m glad to see this site take on a positive spin.
How come they only give me 2.5% on my term deposits? Thats only for the last six months of an 18 month investment.
Cheers
Ya Retired.. dont you love that.. they say what great returns you get at 2.5% yet charge an arm and a leg for mortgages, loans and credit cards… not only that they get all that money for a great deal from our government… so basically using our money to make more money off of us.. what a system.
From the way I see it, Intrest rates on returns is very low, but then the prime rate of canada is low. I would love to have 2.5% intrest made in 6months,compared to .05%. As for loans, mortgages etc, the big charter banks are far worse and they do take your money…I appreciate the specialties of the Credit Unions in our community because it does support the many people and groups in the region. Kudos to Spruce Credit Union and Integris Credit Union
I like integris the best, They are much easier and friendlier than most other banks.
Remember most other banks are not from around here. Lately, HSBC has apparently asked thousands of cust to leave their bank
if they dont comply with the corporate bunch.
Maybe you could look into this Ben.
“Lately, HSBC has apparently asked thousands of cust to leave their bank”
Is that right? If it is true, and they have improved their bottom line, maybe that is where the Mayor got her idea from to leave the City. ;-)
2 years ago Integris was picked as the best company to work for in BC.
