Friday, March 7, 2014 @ 4:58 AM

Prince George, B.C. – The Cariboo Cougars are in Langley for the start of the BC Major Midget Hockey league playoffs.

The Cougars face the Valley West Hawks at 6:15 tonight in game one of a best-of-three series.  The Hawks went 3-0-1 against the Prince George club this season, compiled a record of 27-11-2 and a third-place finish in the standings with 56 points, and scored 193 goals while giving up 124.

The Cariboo Cats had a regular season record of 17-21-2, good for 36 points and a tie for sixth.  They gave up 20 more goals than the 140 pucks they put in the net.

The clubs meet in game two at 8:15 pm Saturday and, if a rubber match is needed it will go at 9:45 Sunday morning in Langley.  Short turnaround with the late start Saturday night, the early start Sunday morning and the loss of an hour’s sleep overnight Saturday as well.  But hey, they’re kids.
