End Of The Line For Cariboo Cougars
Prince George, B.C. – The Valley West Hawks ended the Cariboo Cougars’ season on Saturday night, skating to a 5-2 win to sweep the best-of-three BC Major Midget League quarter-final in Langley.
Thomas Webster and Riley Pettitt scored for the Cougars, but it wasn’t enough as the Hawks scored twice in each of the first two periods and once in the third to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
After the Hawks opened the scoring, Webster evened the score in the first period – only to see the Hawks take the lead right back less than a minute later.
The Hawks took a 4-1 lead into the third period, but Pettitt cut into the advantage with a sharp-angle shot midway through the frame. The Hawks added one more insurance marker to clinch the win.
Valley West won the first game 4-3 on Friday night.
