Alleged Car Theft and A String of Charges
McBride, B.C.- One man is in custody following a string of events that includes car theft in McBride on Sunday.
Sunday afternoon, a woman had stopped at an ATM on Main Street in McBride. When she returned from using the bank machine, she found a man trying to steal her car.
She tried to stop the thief , but was injured in the process. She was taken to McBride Hospital and treated for noon-life threatening injuries.
Meantime, McBride and Valemount RCMP, along with North District Traffic Services converged on Highway 16 and located the stolen vehicle travelling west bound, heading towards Prince George.
The vehicle was stopped and the suspect taken into custody without incident.
According to police, the suspect is also accused of stealing a vehicle out of Edmonton, committing a “dine and dash” in McBride and the theft of the McBride woman’s vehicle. The suspect is said to have been awaiting trial on a number of unrelated charges in Alberta.

Wonder if “Pete the Heat” nailed him, best policeman McBride had for years. This car thief just got stupid and stupider, nice to see him back where he belongs.
Oh joy. Alberta seems to be just like BC. Guy has no job, no money so he has an incentive to re-offend but yet they let him out on a ‘promise to appear’. Odds are the same thing will happen here in this case as well I’d presume.
I’ll bet the lady in McBride would be happy to know that some lefty art student (crown counsel)in Alberta could have easily prevented the assault on her by denying bail to this jerk.
