Warm Weather Speeding Up the Snowpack Melt

Tuesday, June 3, 2014 @ 3:57 AM

Prince George, B.C.- The BC River Forecast Centre says the warm weather this week,  could  speed up the melt of what’s left of the snowpack “and may result in increased river levels” by the middle of the week.

As of last night, the Fraser at South Fort George was at 8.055 meters,  up slightly from Sunday's position, but still well below  the  9.4 meter flood level.

The rainfall last week, was lighter than expected, and any river levels that rose because of the rain last week, have started to recede.

The River Forecast Centre has rescinded the high streamflow advisories that had been issued for the Quesnel and Clearwater Rivers.
