Prince George, B.C.- R.E.O. Speedwagon is making appearances in Prince George.
We're not talking about the band, we're talking about the treasured 1927 R.E.O. Speedwagon fire truck that is being featured in a special Prince George Fire Rescue calendar for 2015.
Don’t expect any of the typical firefighter “beef cake” in this calendar, this 12 month spread is all about helping celebrate the City’s Centennial, and the role the P.G. Fire Rescue Department has played over the years.
Monthly images will feature Prince George heritage, as well as the different services the P.G. Fire Rescue provides.
The calendar not only celebrates the history of the Prince George firefighters, it is, first and foremost, a fundraiser for the BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund.
The Fund is committed to building a building this year, one that is similar to the function of the Ronald McDonald House, where burn patients and their families can go when undergoing treatment in Vancouver.
Prince George Firefighters, Local 1372, has committed to raising over a hundred thousand dollars for the construction of the home, and one of the suites will be named in honour of the Prince George Fire Fighters.
The calendar will be available for sale this fall.
Editor's note:
The original story posted the calendar for 1915…a typo….we apologize for the error. thanks to readers for pointing it out.
