Prince George, B.C. – Police are searching for a suspect following a suspected bank robbery in downtown Prince George.
Around 1:30 this afternoon there was a flurry of police activity on downtown streets as numerous RCMP cruisers took up perimeter positions in the city’s core. Officers from two units were seen speaking with a person outside the Spruce Credit Union at 9th and Victoria and went inside the building with that person where they remained for approximately 30 minutes.

In the meantime, police cars were positioned at various intersections and at one point, three units rapidly approached the area of 10th and Victoria, ironically right near the old, recently-vacated RCMP building. Officers quickly exited their vehicles and gathered around a male wearing a white shirt and a backpack. After having him place his hands behind his back, one officer searched the backpack and spoke with the person for a few minutes before letting him go.
The officers who had been inside the credit union got together with two other officers in front of the bank and held a discussion, during which one of the officers crossed to the other side of 9th and spoke with a businessman who was standing outside his office. The officer asked whether the building was equipped with an exterior surveillance camera which may provide footage of a possible suspect who perhaps could be changing the clothes they were wearing. The businessman said the office building did not have a surveillance camera.
As officers remained huddled in from of the credit union, a K-9 unit, a dog and his officer partner, searched the area behind the former Chinese restaurant on Victoria, between 9th and 10th, plus the area behind and beside the Worksafe BC building at 10th and Vancouver.
At this time police have not issued a suspect description, nor have they confirmed that a robbery occurred.

What would be the odds that the bank robber being sought is the bank robber that escaped while in PG on a Corrections Canada escorted pass from the Grande Cache Correctional Centre? Food for thought as he would certainly be needing some ready cash,
