Officer Hurt, Suspects In Custody Following Quesnel Standoff
Quesnel, BC – While there's still no word from Quesnel RCMP on an incident that sent one police officer to hospital, a witness says that initial altercation sparked an hours-long stand-off with two people inside a home, just north of Quesnel.
The incident is believed to have begun shortly after 8pm at a residence in the Barlow Creek area, approximately one-kilometre east of the elementary school on the Barkerville Highway.
The witness, who asked not to be identified, came upon the scene just before the ambulance arrived to tend to the officer. "They had to cut his uniform off and they had a neck brace on him, placed him on a stretcher and put him in there. The paramedics were with him for about five minutes and then they took him to the hospital."
The witness says he saw one male suspect being place in the backseat of an undercover car and officers began negotiating with individuals still inside the home. He believes there were two people inside and numerous police officers arrived on-scene to set up a perimeter.
It is believed the situation ended peacefully at approximately 2am this morning.
