Area in pinkish colour is under  Evacuation ORDER while area in  yellow is under Evacuation ALERT

Houston, B.C.- The China Nose  fire,  about 15 kilometers southeast of Houston, has grown to 2900 hectares.

An evacuation order, issued yesterday, remains in effect,   and many other residents are now under an evacuation alert. (see map above)

BC Parks has ordered the closure of Old Man Lake Provincial Park to all recreational uses and the evacuation of any users within the park. 
There are 65 firefighters, 7 helicopters working on this fire, with more personnel on their way to help.

Spurred on by windy conditions last night, the fire is exhibiting what the BC Wildfire Management Branch refers to as “extreme” fire behaviour.

The primary objective at this time is to identify and protect homes and cabins in the region.
