Ft. St John Airport Parking Lot Expansion Gets Cash Boost from NDIT
Ft. St. John, B.C.- The Ft. St. John Airport will be expanding its parking lot again.
Northern Development Initiative Trust has provided a grant of $250 thousand dollars to support the expansion of the parking lot.
The airport in Ft. St. John has seen tremendous growth in passenger traffic. Last year, 186 thousand passengers moved through the airport, that was a 30% increase over the previous year. Passenger traffic is expected to jump over the 200 thousand mark this year.
With all those passengers, there is ever increasing pressure on the parking lot. An expansion last year, (which was also supported by the NDIT with a grant of ¼ of a million dollars) provided 100 new stalls for general parking and 100 stalls for rental cars.
The new parking project will create an additional parking lot for 175 vehicles, upgrades to the older parking lot, and the creation of three bus lanes to accommodate crew buses.
The total cost of the project is $2,135,000.00.
