Houston, B.C.- The China Nose fire is now said to be 20% contained.

The fire, which is raging about 15 kilometers south east of Houston, is estimated to be  3,700 hectares in size.

More than a hundred people have been allowed back in to their homes, as the evacuation order and evacuation alerts have been revised . ( see previous story)

Crews and equipment continue to work day and night shifts, and are making progress on containment lines on the east, west and north flanks of the fire. Helicopters will be using retardant to reinforce containment lines.

The Wildfire Management branch is   advising that while  people may see more smoke and flames  while controlled burns are  underway,  it  doesn’t mean the fire is more active,  as it is part of the plan to burn areas on the periphery of the fire to establish a solid containment line.
