Prince George, B.C. – An evacuation alert has been expanded in response to the fast growing Tommy Lakes fire, three and a half hours north of Fort St. John and 60 km northeast of Pink Mountain.

The alert in Electoral Area B has been expanded to the south of that area and has been issued by the Peace River Regional District.

It applies to the following area:

following the Sikanni Chief River on the west, following the western boundary of the Sikanni Chief Management Area  to the southwest most point, then southeast across to the junction of PDR 6 and Tommy Lakes Road, then northeast to the source of the Martin Creek and directly north to a point connecting to the West Conroy Creek and following north along Conroy Creek and across back to the Sikanni Chief River.  This area is within the oil and gas field areas of Tommy Lakes, Conroy Creek, Laprise Creek and Black Creek.

According to the BC Wildfire Management Branch "the fire experienced growth in both the south and west directions last night."

The fire is now 2,500 hectares in size, a jump from 800 hectares yesterday.
