PG Cougars Take Step to Enhance Fan Experience
Prince George, B.C.- The Prince George Cougars are introducing a new 50/50 electronic system they believe will enhance the spectator experience at games this upcoming hockey season.
"The 50-50 system the PG Cougars are putting in is very similar to what you'd see at NHL games or other pro sports teams," says Vice-President of Business Andy Beesley.
"Essentially what it is is instead of buying the old-fashioned tickets that you have to rip in half and put in a barrel, you actually buy them from an electronic machine and the total is displayed on screens throughout the concourse as well as on our main screen so people can actually watch the pot growing, it's pretty fun."
Beesley admits the new technology won't come cheaply but couldn't share the exact cost.
"The team is sinking significant resources into it."
Beesley says half the proceeds go to the winner, the other half to the Cougars 50/50 Society which dedicates resources to local charities.
He says it promises to be a major improvement over last year.
"It's the latest and greatest and not many other WHL teams have it, only a couple and we thought it was time for the Cougars to move up to the big leagues and offer a top notch fan experience."

I’ve seen these at Canucks games. Less paper used as you get a small sheet similar to a purchase receipt. Less clean up after the game too.
Cheerleaders…
Great new ownership, good stuff.
I was about to post that they should offer seat packages less than a full season’s ticket. But then I took a look at their website and they are offering 15, 10 and 5 game packages in addition to a full season ticket. Well done. I guess I don’t have an excuse anymore. Looking forward to the CN Centre again being the place to be on a Saturday night.
They are doing an awesome job so far.
I was downtown at Summerfest this past weekend, and they had a few people walking around handing out an information pamphlet on ticket packages. They had a booth as well.
Definitely looking forward to the new ice age!
Why don’t they put slots in then?
People are saying the right things. But as we all know, talk is cheap.
Whether this all translates into more bums in seats is another question. Time will tell.
They are going to have to prove with actions not talk before they will ever get my butt in the stands.
@bcracer
You mean results? Like winning? Or are u referring to them talking about a 50/50 system but not having one?
Im not sure what more the new ownership could have possibly done so far.
@phje I was adding to the comment above mine….. I should have been more specific I guess.
As for the 50-50 I could care less one way or the other I don’t buy them and don’t care if others do. How people spend their money is up to them, I may not agree with it but it is still their choice and their money to spend as they will.
