School Board to Discuss Teachers Dispute at In-Camera Meeting
Prince George, B.C. – The ongoing public teachers dispute will be discussed at a School District 57 in-camera meeting tomorrow night.
Board Chair Sharel Warrington says the gathering has been planned for two weeks adding it's "extremely frustrating and disappointing" that the dispute has dragged on so long.
"It's been frustrating from the very beginning of the summer that there has been little if any movement on either side. Boards of education around the province are frustrated with the lack of progress in this labour dispute and we have called on the government and BCTF to come together and work towards an agreement."
She says the board is not taking sides in the dispute adding they sent an open letter to both sides earlier this summer urging them to settle their differences.
Warrington says students are the real losers in all of this.
"Their education should not be held hostage in this situation."

Yes, of course, by all means have this meeting in camera. It would never do to have the people who elect the Board know what is happening or being dicussed. A bunch of junior wannabe MLAs at work?
Oldun, Bylaw 1 is the governing bylaw for our school district. It highlights what is Public and what needs to be dealt with In Camera. Actions are either reported out or released after agreed by the board. http://www.sd57.bc.ca/fileadmin/cao.sd57.bc.ca/Policy_Manual/Policies/Bylaw_No._1.pdf
Also at every public board meeting a record of In Camera is approved which shows when and the purpose of the meeting.
