Prince George, B.C. – The Mt. McAllister fire 56 km west of Chetwynd has sparked an evacuation alert.

“Due to the high winds, dry conditions, terrain, and fuel type the fire is expected to increase in size,” says fire information officer Rosalie MacAulay.

She says the alert has been issued by the District of Hudson’s Hope and includes the following areas:

1. Zone 1 which includes the W.A.C. Bennett Dam and 12 Mile Road and;
2. That portion of Zone 6 North of Dinosaur Lake which includes Dinosaur Lake Campground.

She says smoke from the 25,500 hectare fire will be present in many surrounding communities and encourages anyone concerned about air quality to go to www.bcairquality.ca for more information.
