Possible Human Remains Discovered at Fire Site
Mackenzie, B.C. – RCMP say they have found what is believed to be human remains in the debris of a travel trailer that burned on the east shore of McLeod Lake on the weekend.
Mackenzie RCMP are working with the Coroner’s Office and forensics to obtain a positive i.d. .
The travel trailer, a pick up truck and ATV , all consumed by flames, were located near Haight Road off highway 97 around 11 a.m. Sunday, September 14th. At the initial inspection of the site, there was no sign of the Mackenzie couple which owned the items.
“We don’t yet have a cause for the fire” says Mackenzie RCMP Sgt Brian Donaldson. He says the fire Investigator from the Fire Commissioners Office has attended the scene to try and determine the cause of the blaze.
The investigation continues.
