Larsen Details Platform

Wednesday, October 1, 2014 @ 12:48 PM

coralee LarsenPrince George, B.C.-  Candidate Coralee Larsen has  released details of her platform which she hopes will  get her elected to Prince George City Council.

Larsen has  lived in Prince George for 9 years and  is a  graduate of the  College of New Caledonia’s Management  diploma  program.

She says she wants to  bring  fiscal responsibility to City Hall “The people of Prince George work hard for their money and deserve to have their tax dollars directed to the foundations and cornerstones of our community”.

She says public assets,  such  as the  Pine Valley Golf Course, need to remain a public asset to promote healthy community living and sport.

Larsen says  she  says no to the Storm Water Utility,  and to the Performing Arts Centre,  but  supports safety upgrades for the Library,  well maintained sidewalks,  improved access for mobility challenged residents and visitors, more bike lanes that don’t conflict with on-street parking, and fully funding snow clearing as well as  effective management of fleet services.

Her campaign slogan is “Together we can.”

Well there’s a start, now we just need to see who’s pocket she will end up in. Time will tell.

Not sure what her background is but she has some good ideas. She will be one of the newbies that I will be watching.

Hi Professional, Having known Ms Larsen for a while, I predicate that she will not end up in anyone’s pocket, far too strong willed and independent minded for that, she could be an effective voice for the average working citizen. This might be an interesting election year after all the dust has settled.

Well, I for one am looking for serious change in City Hall, she may be a good change.

New blood? Appreciation of the basics; could be promising?!

All I know about her now is that she’s on EI. Other then promises, what does she have?

I stand corrected – someone will say an outright “no” to the PAC.

Unemployment doesn’t exactly inspire.

WHO is going to make fixing the aging water and sewer mains in town a priority?

Being on EI will not do much to enhance her chances. That is unfortunate.

If we vote her in she won’t be on EI for 4 years that is unless EI doesn’t consider being on City Council as having a job.

All over the map.

Why are we so hung up as to the fact that she’s on EI? There could be a good reason, and the fact that she is unemployed means she will have more time to commit to being on City Council.
Not everyone is lucky enough to never go through a lay off – I went through that earlier this year with no notice from the company other than in 2 days we were all laid off. I’ve never been through that before and it was hard to admit that I would need to apply for EI. Luckily I managed to find another job almost immediately, but not everyone can.

Anyone is better than what we have now.

So far, that seems to be all we know about her. I’d like to know where she’s worked in the 9 years she’s been here. I find that kind of relevant.
