After a trip to Vancouver and the accompanying toll charges for crossing the Port Mann Bridge, I was a bit amused this evening to hear that Federal NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair is of the opinion that the new proposed Champlain Bridge in Montreal should be build and NOT tolled! Rather, he is of the opinion that all people of Canada should bear the cost of this new bridge!

Gee, a Quebecer who is used to suckling on the Public “teat” thinks that Quebec should continue to suckle on the Public “teat”!

With apologies to barnyard animals everywhere, does this make Mulcair a piglet suckling on a Sow, or is he just a Jackass?

Here about Trudeau whipping out a cf-18 and showing how big it is.

Last Wednesday Ben Meisner posted a great opinion article on this website titled “Transparency at City Hall? There were a lot of articles posted on this site that day and Ben’s opinion piece got pushed onto the 2nd page shortly before noon and some of you may have missed it. For anyone who missed the article that day the following is the link to it:

2014/10/01/transparency-at-city-hall/

250 News moderator. At your earliest convenience could you please check your spam filter for this thread for an article (which had a link in it) that I posted at 12:30 AM.

I am so happy it’s getting colder out because now I won’t have to run the gauntlet as much when I go into the 24 hr convenience stores, bus station and select other areas. It’s always so fun being accosted by stoned or drunks or persons coming off highs you never know if you need to fight or flight. And the same three questions are always asked “got any spare change for a coffee?” “Got a smoke?” “Can you give me a ride?”

Of course the band council and city council both vehemtly deny that there is no such issue with people loitering in front of convince stores, bus stops, liquor stores or parks just to name a few. Denial means they don’t have to acknowledge a problem exists.

Dearth…. ohhh THAT’S where they all went to…. your neighbourhood.. That;s why Councils don’t see them

What was Mulcair’s position on the Port Mann Bridge? Maybe he thought it should have been fully funded as well? If he thought different, then obviously he’s a hypocrite. If he thought it should have been funded like the Champlain bridge, then I’d suggest he simply believes that public infrastructure should be fully funded by the taxes we pay. Not sure that’s such a bad thing.

Has anyone else found the website to be very slow to respond while using mobile devices? Sometimes when trying to respond to articles it takes minutes to draft a simple response. It’s very laggy at times. This is the only website I’ve noticed this on. Ben or Elaine, any thoughts?

    NMG
I have two different types of smart phones, and have not noticed this issue on either of them, or on the tablets we use which again, encompass two different operating systems. I will have our tech support check into this and will respond with their answer.

Michael Den Tandt: Questionable record leaves Harper’s military flank exposed

http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2014/10/02/michael-den-tandt-questionable-record-leaves-harpers-military-flank-exposed/

I noticed Frank Everit had a well placed campaign sign in front of Mr PG the first day signs were allowed… next day it was removed and a Scott campaign sign was in its place. I wondered if that was an agreement between campaigns, is it first come first serve, or is there a process for reserving sign space at the various locations around town?

Something to consider when contemplating Enbridge Gateway and Harpers new investment treaty with China.

Chinese president, Xi Jinping, in a speech for China’s National Day earlier this week came down with some harsh rhetoric about the Hong Kong protesters demands for universal suffrage. He basically outlined how the communist party of China is the center of the universe and that anyone that opposes it is not legitimate, and will be considered a threat to China.

Of interest to me as a Canadian was that Xi Jinping said Beijing has the final say in Hong Kong, but also globally everyone everywhere will one day have to acknowledge the supremacy of the communist party as the final authority on global affairs. He didn’t limit the reach of the communist party of China to the boarders of China, but rather declared the communist party of China as having global reach in its authority.

Now consider that Harper has signed an agreement with the communist party of China allowing state owned enterprises to take Canadian democratic institutions to tribunals conducted in China that will have the powers to assess penalties against Canadian democratic institutions for any bylaws, regulations, or laws that could hinder ‘potential’ profits by Chinese state owned enterprises operating in Canada. Harper singed this agreement, which is an attack on Canadian sovereignty, the Canadian Constitution (as it rises above the Supreme Court of Canada), and with the narrow focus on pushing through Northern Gateway under threat of large Chinese compensation payouts for lost potential profits should it be sidelined.

I think signing an agreement like FIPA was treasonous to Canada in light of statements like that made by Xi Jinping on the official views of the communist party of China regarding its role as a global institution. Canada already had all the legal protections it needed in China when doing business through the Hong Kong legal system (which our Canadian government has expressed no interest in preserving), so signing FIPA was nothing more than a sell out to Canadian sovereignty over self determination in areas like environmental regulations and the work place safety generations of Canadians have fought the good fight to retain.

When it comes to the operation of coal mines and pulp mills in Northern BC and potentially the shipments of bitumen through the North this is a real serious issue that the globalist money bags want to hide under the carpet. Obviously its a situation of politicians that have no respect for Canadian democratic institutions and our own regulatory legal systems designed for a reason to protect the interest of our country.

IMO

NMG,

Yes I have had the same problem with 250. Thought it was just my computer. I deleted it as my homepage, have deleted it completely and reloaded and it is still the same. Other pages (cnn, The Citizen) all upload quickly.

A further erosion of our democratic institutions was on full display this last week at city hall.

The firing of 11 employees at the city with impacts on safety and the cleanliness of city pools is clearly an area that should be discussed in council as a level of service that is funded by the city and determined through budget deliberations. This is not simply a human resource matter where city hall can insulate itself from explaining its actions even to sitting council members, but rather its a service level issue that should require council consent, much less at minimum informing council of such a huge change in policy.

I attribute the arrogance at city hall directly with the ‘Code of Conduct for City Council’ pledge our city manager forced council to sign recently. I said it would be a problem at the time and lead to less accountability at city hall, and this is the kind of result I think James was hoping for.

Specifically code 15 that claims all information relating to staff information relating to operations be directed through the city manager… but apparently this is a one way code as the city manager didn’t feel as a gateway keeper the information on a major change to service levels at the city pools was information that needed to flow the other way to city council.

The current city council itself is to blame for signing a ‘Code of Conduct for City Council’ that gives administration the tools to shut out council and thus shut out the citizens of Prince George from proper over sight of the conduct of city administration. Only a fool would sign on to a document from administration that is designed to limit the administrations accountability to elected institutions… and now we have the predictable results of councils naivety in this regard.

One hopes our next city council isn’t so naive as to sign such garbage again come this November. Kind of a litmus test as to who really believes in transparency at city hall IMO.

Is anyone concerned about the Ebola case diagnosed south? The US slammed the borders shut to the import of livestock over BSE yet all forms of human travel remains open???

Trudeau and CF18 comment? – He thinks the ISIS problem can be solved by helping them? – Hello – and he wants to be the next PM – Yikes!! Wake up eastern Canada.

Cows don’t put money in to the local economy like humans do while travelling.

I wish the City would enact a bylaw that restricts the number of campaign signs per candidate per 100 meters. I cannot stand to see a cluster of 8 – 12 of one candidate’s signs in a row or in a cluster.
It bothers me for two reasons:
1): Do you think I am so naive that a cluster 10 signs will sway my vote over another candidate’s single sign?
2): If the candidate is campaigning on a platform of fiscal responsibility and budget control, I look at how many of these “sign clusters” are out there to see how wasteful their campaign is – the actions speak louder than words adage.

Although, you can tell immediately who has strong financial backing by the lavishness of the campaign signs. That tells me something, too.

Having never read the friday free for all before, a few things come to mind;
Do you need a tinfoil hat to post?
The streets are definitely safer on Fridays.

CF-18’s and troops did not solve Afghanistans’ problems, nor did CF-18s solve any problems in Libya. Does Harper think the third time is the charm? I think Canadian taxpayers should be tired of Harpers’ ceaseless military enthusiasms. Conservatives get their knickers in a knot every time the Feds seem to spend a little money on public programs, yet where are their concerns over the billions wasted in Afghanistan, Libya and now Iraq and Syria. This will never end until Harper is removed from power.

Eagleone, signs can NOT go up on Highways so they will take them down their policy states no signs on highway right of way until Oct 10th end of nominations. Think only they know about it and what’s the reason who knows.

Trudeau and the CF18s? The USA, Britain and Australia (perhaps others) have all declared that ISIS can not be defeated by aircraft missions, like using CF18s and such. Too many civilians (including women and children) have been and are being killed while ISIS is constantly on the move and can not be pinned down from the air! What is the next step? Troops on the ground, of course! Andrew Coyne let it slip out: “Trudeau’s off the cuff remark is a bad thing during a time of war!” To no one’s surprise Canada is at war again!

Trudeau is just as frustrated as very many other Canadians are!

DND figures Afghanistan cost $8 billion from 2001 to 2011, Budget officer Kevin Page estimated that DND had understimated the costs bu up to 50%. So potentially taxpayers have shelled out over 16 billion- and for what?

have to agree Prince George,ISIS using women and children to shield themselves. So Harper Canada jumps in to join the in the killing, it may look good on the news but its boots on the ground or stay the hell out. Harper is a reformer not a Progressive Conservative and were he is taking Canada is sickening, full of spin and full of shit.

Man the pedestrian traffic crossing central in a couple ares sure seems to have increased. City may have to look at installing pedestrian overpasses to ensure peoples safety.

Keep Right Except To Pass!

lildigger you don’t need a tinfoil hat to post but you do to read! Everyone knows that the Falun Gong members are having their organs harvested to keep world leaders and rich industrialists alive longer but did you know the secret service of their homeland started and maintains that spiritual movement so the government can have a ready supply of “donors”. Disclaimer: this is the opinion of others, I am just reporting it. ☻

Thank you for the giggle @Hartly 2 ! Wishing everyone a happy Friday :)

How come the Interior ferries, like the one that takes you on a 45 minute trip across Kootenay Lake to Nelson, a route that has an alternate ‘road’ connection, are FREE to all comers, local residents of the particular area and tourists alike, yet people who live on Vancouver Island and the smaller Gulf islands, with no other ‘road’ connections, are held to ransom now every time they take a ferry?

It seems to me that those of us in the parts of BC where ferries certainly are not free are massively subsidising others in places where they are. Even though alternate , though undoubtedly longer, routes also exist to many of those places.

It’s my understanding that back in the old Social Credit days of WAC Bennett, the government calculated what the costs of maintaining an equivalent amount of road to the various coastal islands would be, and gave BC Ferries a grant annually for that amount.

All costs over and above that were collected from the public in fares. On the main routes BC Ferries was generally operationally ‘profitable’, (this not being known until ‘after the fact’, as is the case with all business profits), and this ‘profit’ was used to offset any losses incurred on the other routes, keeping the fares on them affordable. Not so anymore. There certainly seems to be a ‘double standard’ here, and a glaring example of the differences between the free-enterprise Socred government of the past that did it’s best to ensure ALL British Columbians weren’t milked dry by their government, and the money grubbing BC Liberal mob that’s running this place now. Where British Columbia citizens are viewed in light of how much can be wrung out of them to make the Government’s books look good, as if ‘their’ government was some sort of separate entity from the people whose interests it’s supposed to have at heart.

Eagleone….your comments on FIPA are BANG ON. I notice the neocons have even given up arguing about this travesty, because they know it is a travesty, but their love affair with Harper runs deep. This agreement is scarier than Ebola. Canadians should wake up to what this signing allows China to do.

Re the F18s, can we wipe out ISIS with a few bombs, some strafing, really people shake your head and look at history. This will be a messy drawn out bloody ground affair. The middle eastern civilization has collapsed on itself, and religious dogma, militarism, and authoritarian governments are thriving. Change here is not going to be done via F18s despite what that idiot PM we have says.

If you believe a couple more F18s can solve ISIS, and that FIPA is harmless and a good thing, I have a warehouse full of caffeinated underware you might be interested in.

The Socred party website said they deregistered as of 7 June 2013. Not much hope of them making a comeback.

Maverick “Man the pedestrian traffic crossing central in a couple ares sure seems to have increased. City may have to look at installing pedestrian overpasses to ensure peoples safety.”

This has been looked at many times in the past by both the Ministry and the city as a joint venture. The reasons for not pursuing it are:
1. Cost of overhead walkway vs. tunnel below the highway is vastly more expensive. Tunnels are not considered safe and become trash and graffiti collectors. Thus generally people choose the road surface to cross.

2. The time & effort it takes to walk the stairs (or coil type ramps) to get over the road is for many people too much of an inconvenience so the quickest , most direct path is chosen…over the highway.

3. The only people that will even consider using the ramp are the ones that meet up with it directly. Most people will not walk half a block to use it. Again quickest, most direct path….Straight across the highway. There are already signal controlled crosswalks at the intersections, but most people don’t walk to them.
Just a matter of cost of installation and upkeep vs. effectiveness.
I think part of the reason the center barriers were put in was to dissuade pedestrians from crossing mid block. Worked for some maybe ? Who knows.

Did Harper say the aircraft are a solution, no. Has whip it out boy ever said anything that ever made sense? I like this one, “the budget will balance itself.” Must be nice to have an income trust.

Heard a rumour that Lakeland will be starting up in the not to distant future but anyone employed after 1999 May not be called back and don’t expect any reverence.

Can anyone collaborate ?

No…seamut he didn’t, Harper as usual kept his thoughts to himself and his close buddies if they are lucky. Yes, Trudeau has said a few things of import, but your neocon mind tuned em out. I know you figure your godhead can do no wrong, did you know his name is going to go into the dictionary as a swear word? Not kidding.

Why would anyone revere a bunch of ex mill workers? And what would you like us to collaborate on?

Funny how the intelligentsia will try and wrap their brains around a drama teacher’s qualifications to be PM. For all the warts our current PM possesses, at least he can claim to have made his own way to Sussex Dr. The leader of the Liberal Party is just a fancy bauble that the wine and chees socialists have foisted upon us, after failing with a Harvard Prof and the other intellect. So now they are trying to kid us that they really believe the anointed one is really more qualified than their last two attempts.
No this is just a cynical attempt to appeal to the brain dead apathetic liberals living in the past.

Excuse me, excuse me I fire your shining pony is embarrassing you considering your comeback.

Axeman you for real?

You’re firing my shining pony? Will he get severance?

Thanks for the clarity, didn’t know the city looked into overhead crossings. I find the worse areas to be at the college and spruceland south of Tim Hortons to be the most frequently used areas.

Would be nice to see Prince George become a more users friendly town. Things are so spread out people are forced to use their vehicles apposed to walking, mingling and shopping. Makes this city not vary appealing for tourism like some small cities that I know of yet it has the potential with the right planning and insight.

Haven’t gone by Lakeland lately, however the last time I did there were no logs in the yard. No logs no start.

This is why we need a revitalized downtown.

We’ve ‘needed’ a revitalized downtown for the past 30 years. Hasn’t happened. We sure have talked about it a lot though.

This is not a forum for devotees of the My Little Pony cult, shining or otherwise.

I’ve always thought that if the drop in centers were moved to the other side of Queensway the downtown might have a chance. But I’m not allowed to say that out loud or the socialists will get angry.

There are many rich Arab states in the area where Harper wants to fly his CF18s! Some of them are kingdoms – in fact family ruled and oil rich beyond imagination! They can get together to face the threat to their very existence posed by ISIS. There are Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait plus quite a few others! They have fighter planes, tanks, armies and all the other military hardware to confront ISIS and wipe it out!

This problem is ten times more their problem than ours! Let them get themselves some backbone and do their own fighting! Canada can be a mediator if called upon! If not, so be it! Since when is it our responsibility to spend lives and money trying to solve their domestic problems? Have we already forgotten the many Canadians killed in Afghanistan and the many who suffer from PTSD?

Prince George this might help you out. A bit outdated but you should get the drift.

Since all the major indexes have shown no GLOBAL warming for almost two decades or more might be time for Christy to drop the carbon tax.

Take it away Todd. I wonder if he will have a comment in his very biased column.

The USA needs Mid East oil, thus they will fight anyone and everyone to ensure the safe supply of this oil.

Canada cannot survive without the USA buying our products, and basically babysitting us, so when the US wants us to participate in some of their overseas operations we say YES. Why?? Because we are not prepared to deal with the consequences of saying NO.

Canada is not a significant presence on the world stage, and every major Country in the world knows we operate in the shadow of the big old USofA.

Why cant some people see the situation as it actually is.??

What were the consequences of saying NO to participating in the “weapons of mass destruction” invasion of Iraq?

Posted on Friday, October 3, 2014 @ 10:10 AM by seamut

Since all the major indexes have shown no GLOBAL warming for almost two decades or more might be time for Christy to drop the carbon tax.

——–

For starters, the term “Global Warming” is a media concoction. The more appropriate phrase is “Climate Change” and there’s plenty of proof out there that it is real and it is happening at an accelerated rate.

If the government dropped the carbon tax they’d just have to raise another tax.

Is it just me, or has anyone else had issues with the comment window when typing something? When I get the the bottom of the window, it starts bouncing up and down (especially when backspacing) making it difficult to type.

I’m wondering if it only occurs when I’ve done a copy and paste as part of a reply to a previous post? If I keep typing I’ll soon get to the bottom of the current window and will be able to tell for certain.

Nope, it appears to happen as soon as I get to the bottom of the window. I
think it’s an issue with the auto-resizing function.

The downtown is slowing starting to transform. The wheels of progress can take a long time to move. The issues with our marginalized citizens will never change unless we alter our attitudes.

If we are not part of the problem, lets be part of the solution. The saying,”It takes a village to raise a child”, can apply to any location.

It’s the youth of today that need to be helped so they don’t become part of the future problem. Parents need to participate in their child’s life and teach them right from wrong.

We can also get involved in the community as mentors, coaches, etc., to help future generations. We can complain all we want, but until we step up to evoke change, things will stay the same.

Where is the leaf (cities electric car) how did it make out last winter? Looking for any information, maybe buying one.

PrinceGeorge….your insight on this is right on. Heard an interview with an Arab journalist and expert and expert on these things, the Arab civilization is BROKEN, and Harper and his planes is not going to make a whit of difference, they need major democratic, educational and societal reform. Violence is not the answer. Harper is just busy making enemies we do not as a country need or can not afford.

“Transparency at City Hall”

What are your thoughts on this charles? I feel as a tax payer the city is forcing us to walk around with our pants at half mass! We really have no say.

Does “charles”have to use his full name if his wife is running for council and most likely he is her campaign manager?

With regard to Dearth’s comments about street people, “the band council” presumably refers to Lheidli T’enneh. While a large percentage of the street people here are native, most of them are Lheidli members. In fact, quite a few are not even Carrier. The native street people here come from all over the region: Fort Saint James, Tachie, Takla, Fort Ware, McLeod Lake, Moberly. Just as Prince George is a commercial and government centre, it is also a kind of accumulation point for people who are down and out or who for one reason or another can’t or don’t want to live on reserve anymore.

Eagleone is right on target as to the danger of “corporate sovereignty” provisions in trade agreements, especially with a government like that of China, which is aggressive and has few moral compunctions. The one point on which I disagree is the nature of the Chinese government. It is now Communist only in name. It retains the authoritarian aspect of communism but not the socialism, and along with the socialist economic system, whose virtues are debatable, it has abandoned the desirable goals of equality and fairness.

Just noticed that my fingers left out a crucial “not” in my post above about street people. My point was that most of the native street people are NOT Lheidli members.

Not denying it at all. However, ever since the so-called industrial revolution started, the rate at which the climate is changing is doing so at an accelerated, unnatural and devastating rate.

Retired 02

Surprised you showed up today, thought you would be hiding under the desk to avoid the hot lead flying around Abbotsford as they make another run at re gaining the “Murder Capitol of Canada” title.

I agree. That was the nice thing about having the old CBC RSS feed; it took you right to the cbc site and we could comment.

Seamut, I appreciate any help! However, I stand by what I stated before:

This ISIS thing is entirely a matter of the Arab countries! Let them get together (without *western help*) and stand up to what they themselves perceive as a threat to their very existence! By the way, I need help in identifying the countries which have been supplying ISIS (including ISIS under its previous names) with an endless supply of weapons in the past and in the very present! Are they trading partners of Canada? Do they have investments in Canada? Mulcair and Trudeau are on the right track! Let’s use intelligence and non-military strength to lean on them to stop fomenting trouble and death and destruction in the area! Harper says that we can not opt for getting a free ride and have get no respect for
standing on the sidelines! He is wrong! Canada used to be respected as and international peace keeper and mediator! That role has been destroyed.

The consequences to saying No to the Irag War was a bigger presence in the Afghanistan War. Your damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.

You cannot get military protection from the USA without paying some sort of price.

Georgia straight! Retired, just what kind of mushrooms are they growing in your neck of the woods.

The nicest thing about the “blue bins” it becomes a festival for the crows!! As soon as the blue bins come out (early in the morning)- so do the crows with plenty of time to snoop and pull everything out. Suggestion- lids on those blue bins!

Not one of today’s hot topics….but in driving around town it seems that a lot of PG drivers have no idea what the thing sticking out of the left side of their steering column is for. It’s like we all need to be mind readers on the road with un-signaled lane changes, and turns! Oh…and keep right except to pass!

So Prince George if isil takes over the middle east, what then?

Politics and relationships between countries is always in a variable flux. Hey did you know we are buddies with Germany now? Do you think that extreme terrorist isil is somehow legitimate?

Axeman you do know that we are coming out of the little ice age that ended in the mid eighteen hundreds. Show me your source that temperatures are accelerating upwards? Can you tell me mans contribution to total c02?

“You didn’t catch my use of Mann did you.”

I assume you meant Michael Mann. I believe his research counters your claim that climate change is happening at it’s “normal” rate.

Huh? Since when was the middle east in danger of being taken over by ISIL? For that matter, since when was a single country in the middle east in danger of being taken over by ISIL?

As for your questions, check out google. Lots of links there; here’s one of them: http://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/. Many, many more to choose from. Far more links in support of climate change as a fact versus those against.

For NMG, ISIL stands for the “Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.” The Levant is a larger area of the Middle East that actually includes Lebanon and Jordan in addition to Syria.

ISIS or ISIL now refers itself as IS or Islamic State, which they mean to include all the middle east.

I just read of another beheading. Hey what about all the thousands of women and children they have captured?

Okay folks time to pull the sheets back over your heads.

It’s called rinsing food containers out and discarding things like pizza boxes that may contain food partials.

Those ISIL aholes had better have a change of underwear with them as I read that A10 Warthogs are on the way and will be based pretty close to the action. This plane is much better suited to deal with small groups of fighters on the ground than a f16 flying at 20,000 feet with precision guided bombs. The 30mm cannon on the front will get their attention when the plane pops over the horizon, better be a good supply of virgins waiting:)

For NMG, ISIL stands for the “Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.” The Levant is a larger area of the Middle East that actually includes Lebanon and Jordan in addition to Syria.

These guys scare the crap out of me! I’m glad I don’t live in one of our larger cities. It’s only a matter of time before some nutjob takes up their cause on Canadian soil.

With respect to the slow loading of 250news. Thank you for your interest, we value your participation at 250News. The questions you raise have been handed over to our Web Master for immediate looking into.
thanks

Scares the heck out of me too! But here Canada sits, wringing hands on the hill saying “Do we really have to get in to this, I mean, it’s way over there”. I guess if a Canadian had been beheaded, wouldn’t be a problem. Even though we are getting warned that our country is next for a terrorist bomb or mayhem, the politicians of our country are being panty wastes. I don’t want to put our soldiers in harms way, but we’ve always done our part before.

Well that’s interesting. It appears you can’t post links to other news outlets here. Guess they don’t like get “out scooped”?

Anyhow, it looks like the reason for Brent Marshall leaving Northland Dodge has come to light.

Jb I do but not so sure about the trudeaumaniacs.

Sparrow, Obama wants to get rid of the Warthog. Another addition to his very long dumb list.

Thanks for looking into the issues Ben and Elaine, much appreciated.

As for ISIL, yes seamut, I’m quite aware of what the name stands for but it has nothing to do with their capability to take over a country, let alone an entire region.

ISIL is said to have between 10,000 and 30,000 fighters and in fairness, many of them are highly trained. Here are some estimates on the sizes of the active armed forces plus reserves for some of the major countries in the region:

Israel: 620,000
Iran: 2,300,000
Saudi Arabia: 250,000
Syria: 740,000
Lebanon: 410,000
Iraq: 900,000
Turkey: 600,000

All of these countries would have land, air and naval power.

So, which of these countries is ISIL going to take over and how are they going to do it? Going even further, since every country in the region despises ISIL, how do you think they are going to take it over?

ISIL is being bombed because they are a terrorist organization that has murdered thousands of innocent people and more importantly, because they have threatened nations who have the weapons to bomb them (note we don’t bomb warlords in Africa en mass). It’s not because they are a threat to the middle east, nor is it because they are a major threat to us.

Diabetes will kill far more people this year in North America than ISIL could ever dream of. When will people start being scared of dessert?

The only difference between a used car salesman and a new car one is better clothes and haircut, both equally as greasy underneath.

seamut Do you actually believe that a decision on if a piece of equipment gets retired makes it as far as the oval office? Better find the remote and change the channel rather than getting the “world view through a straw” presented on Stunned and Faux News

The guys with stars on their shoulders like shiney new toys with the latest bells and whistles and the warthog is a flying tank and not too nice to look at. That being said it is on the way to the middle east and will make the loonies leak.

Sparrow chill out dude, it was part of the drastic cuts being made by retreat Obama but there is very strong push back.

NMG numbers mean nothing considering the violence of IS. IS have made large gains and in the beginning the Iraq army ran. Syria is a mess, not much opposition there. Why are so many countries involved then.

Dragonmaster: at 8:14 am socredible was comparing the ferries funding policies of the Socred party of old and the Liberal party of today. This got me wondering if they are still a viable party. Doesn’t look like it.

axman: “Anyhow, it looks like the reason for Brent Marshall leaving Northland Dodge has come to light.”

Very interesting, but not surprising. The information is available via Google if anyone wants to look it up.

Axman and JB, I think you are referring to the Motor Vehicles regulator findings… This has been out for a few months and is about as surprising the local media not reporting it because of potential advertising revenue cuts.

This is not about local media being concerned about advertising, it is about no one passing along the information. Members of the media don’t regularly check on this particular regulatory body.

For months? According to the report I read, “Following a hearing in February, on Monday the authority ruled that Marshall, a general partner in Northland Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Prince George, “engaged in deceptive acts or practices.”” Monday would be 5 days ago.

AX, came across this June 18th from the Motor Dealers site

If the City will not do anything about urban sprawl, perhaps we should be looking at returning the amalgamated area’s back to the Regional District. Ie; Haldi Road, Hart Highway, Blackburn, etc; This would shrink the City to the old boundries, and leave them no choice but to develop land within their boundries.

A smaller City and land base, would (or should) reduce our costs, and who knows, maybe reduce our taxes.

Perhaps we can get a few Councilors to run on a platform to reduce the size of the City.

Prince George I was reading the other day that the Kurds are blaming Canada for their town being over run by isis. It turns out isis had the advantage because they came at night and the attackers were all outfitted with Canadian made military grade night vision equipment… Canada contribution to isis.

It occurs to me why can’t equipment like this all have mandated fail safes built into them. Things like authorized finger print or iris access… maybe a sunset system shut-down built in with a repeating access code that is required to be provided at intervals pertaining to risk. Things to shut the equipment down and make it inert if it falls into the wrong hands.

I think Canadian military hardware being used to commit ethnic cleansing is an absolute failure of Canadian leadership and people should be held accountable.

A good funny read on Harper and his cheer leading lines.

Harper to the world: We are angry, and we have adjectives

I am so jealous. Last week I was in Jasper. We could’nt afford to stay at the Jasper Park Lodge but went out there to look around and maybe take a walk around the lake. To my surprise I saw quite a few UNBC people there from the Northern Medical Program. Someone said that there was a doctor conference going on I don’t know about that but these people were managers and even some union people. You would think that they would at least keep their B.C. taxpayers funded holiday money in B.C.

Sooo what’s happening over at Remax right now?

Here is more information on the night vision goggles. Equipment left behind when the Iraq army took off running

So far as I’m aware, the BC Social Credit Party has de-registered with ElectionsBC as a political party. Whether it will ever re-register is not known to me at this time.

It’s best policies were carried out in the years when it preferred to be called a ‘Movement’, or under its then formal name, the BC Social Credit ‘League’.

The original Social Credit philosophy was very much antithetical towards the political party system, and believed that MLAs were elected primarily to represent ALL their constituents. And many of the early day Socred MLAs did just that ~ as a perusal of any of the newspapers of that era will verify.

Many of the worst attacks on the WAC Bennett government for its supposed shortcomings in delivering what the people wanted in various areas came from the Socred MLAs themselves, not the Opposition. No one was exiled from the Socred caucus for criticising the Leader, or advocating on behalf of their constituents. Contrast that with what we’ve had since, and the pay a MLA received in that era relative to what the average income was then, versus what we’re paying our ‘representatives’ by the same ratio today.

Excuseme who said fighting IS would be a short run. I see a commitment for at least 6 months.

Palopu, actually with fracturing the US actually may not need middle east oil in the near future but Europe does.

“Diabetes will kill far more people this year in North America than ISIL could ever dream of. When will people start being scared of dessert?”

Agreed NMG. People need to watch the documentary Fed Up. You’ll be scared of breakfast.
