Province Moves to Limit Campaign Expenses
Prince George, B.C.- We will find out later today, the full list of names of folks hoping to win a seat on City Council or the Regional District, or on the Board of Education for School District 57.
This may well be the last time the there is no set limit on election campaign spending for local government hopefuls.
An all party Special Committee has been struck by the Legislative Assembly of B.C., to look at Local Elections Expense Limits.
The Committee will form recommendations that will be the foundation of legislation and regulations needed to put expense limits in place for local elections in 2018.
In the 2011 election in Prince George, Mayor Green’s campaign spent $81,147.55 making it the most expensive mayoral campaign in Prince George’s history.

Not really. They spent that money to get unfettered access to the top bureaucrat in the city.
Too little to late on this one. Sadly we will have four more years of the Green/Stolz agenda because apparently money buys votes in this community. Wake up folks, learn about the people you’re voting for, what are their policies and who supports them behind the scenes. Its a sad day for democracy when the candidate with the most campaign signs and advertising budget wins over a candidate that actually has the best interest of the community at heart.
Funny most money spent and worst Mayor ever …
WE WANT FETTERLY, WE WANT FETTERLY, WE WANT FETTERLEY.

You can have him. You’ll have to cover his moving expenses though.
Actually Cicero you are wrong. The gang of five (Hall, Everitt, Krause, Skakun and Frizzel) have been running council for the past year. Where has that got us? Make a decision – bow to public pressure – reintroduce the decision and change mind – repeat. The posturing that has gone on is ridiculous during this election year. Don’t get me wrong I think that Green has been a disaster as mayor. Unfortunately, we don’t see who the money men are for each campaign until it is over. I plan on voting newbies this time with the hope that the dysfunction that has persisted on city council over the past 6 years will end.
If history has taught us anything, it’s that the strategy of voting in all newbys for the sake of getting rid of the old guard solves nothing.
It seems to me oneup482 that Hall, Krause, Skacun and Frizzel have been the only ones working and defending against bad policy on behalf of the citizens of Prince George. Poor leadership from the Mayor chair for sure, but lets not toss out those who dared to speak out against Green and Stolz. New people absolutely, but please be careful who you are voting for. Basic question everyone should be asking themselves… Who would Green and Stolz vote for? IMO those are the candidates to stay away from.
“Her and friends spending 81k to get a 100k a yr job. Something definitely wrong”
Look at it as an investment, a stepping stone to greater things, like a MP position in Ottawa, then a Minister’s job sitting at the right hand side of you know who! Perhaps followed by the opportunity to spend 1 million bucks redecorating the PM’s residence.
Scary scenario, for sure! I feel a cold chill! Hopefully it is the weather!
I really hope Green has ended her life in politics. She wont get the votes to represent this area as she has a horrible track record. Also she would be destroyed in any kind of debate.
I really hope the only reason we ever hear her name in the media comes right after ” the worst mayor Prince George has ever had was “
Opinion 250, will you also please post the candidates that are running in the Bulkley Nechako district.
Would be much appreciated.
