Torch Party One Week Away
Prince George, B.C.- Two important events will be happening one week from today.
On Tuesday, November 4th, the newly revamped Civic Centre Plaza will be officially renamed the Canada Games Plaza. The Plaza will be the site for entertainment and medal presentations during the Canada Winter Games
In the evening, that same site will be the scene of the 100 days out celebration. Yes, November 4th will leave just 100 days until the 2015 Canada Winter games get underway in Prince George.
The milestone is being marked with a torch relay that will start at the Y on Massey Drive at 5 p.m. That relay will make its way to the Crescents neighbourhood, wind its way through that area before heading downtown where it will wrap up at the Canada Winter Games Plaza.
The events at the Plaza are free and will include live entertainment and end with a fireworks display at 8:30.
This relay will be the kick off to the Northern BC torch relay, which will see regional community celebrations in Ft. St. John, Terrace and Quesnel, before the torch returns to Prince George for the start of the Games in February.

One last photo op for our outgoing mayor…
Exactly ^^^
Is there a 50 days out party? Then 25 ? 10? 5? 3,2,1?
What a waste of resources time and energy.
We bid on this event years ago. We were successful in being chosen to host the event. It’s going ahead whether we are for it or against it.
So, my advice is to make the best of it. Try to show some enthusiasm and support for the tremendous effort and cost to showcase our community. What type of image do we want to portray. What makes Prince George special is it’s people. We already have a reputation as one of the most generous communities in the country. Shouldn’t we capitalize on this opportunity?
Everyone has a gift. What are you willing to do to help make this event a huge success?
This is just so much over the top waste of money. It is a joke. This isn’t a celebration of athletic prowess, this is a non-stop feeding at trough, for all those remotely concerned. Plenty of pasted on smiles and back slapping, to appease the Hoi polloi, who need to see sport as an opiate, rather than something to participate in.
