Prince George Gas Prices a Pretty Good Treat
Prince George, B.C. – The lowest price for a litre of regular gasoline in Prince George is well below both the averages both provincially and nationally but the downward trend recently seems to be weakening.
The lowest price in the city, $110.9, is eight cents lower than the national average, 13 cents below the average price in the province of British Columbia. However, according to BCGasPrices.com, the drop in gas prices across the country came to a halt on Thursday and Friday saw them starting to rise. Whether that is the beginning of an upward trend or simply a start-of-weekend anomaly won’t be known until we get into next week.
By the way, the $110.9 cents a litre at Costco here is just a penny more than the $109.9 at the Costco gas bar in Kamloops and in Courtenay. Lowest price in B.C. is $108.9 in Abbotsford. Folks who love to live in Kelowna are paying a minimum $123.9.
Crude oil is selling at $80.300US/barrel.

THANK YOU COSTCO!!
Now, if everyone who uses diesel would fill out one of their suggestion cards expressing their desire to have diesel at their pumps as well, they might get a more accurate picture of how many use and want diesel. That might have an effect on head office’s decision as to whether or not to put it in. They are thinking about it.
Poor Alberta,80.00 per barrel is the break even point for tars sands sludge. Could be a lot of layoffs coming down the pipe or Alberta will finally get their PST.
And diesel is cheaper to make than gas and it is 28 cents more expensive at the pump. And they say they are not gouging us B.S. Some Costco’s in states sell diesel.
Its what the market will bare. 95% of the trucks in this town do not use anywhere near their capabilities. $10,000 higher purchase price, double the oil change price, fuel filters constantly, block heaters plugged in constantly (hydro price) and then complain about a few cents difference in the price of fuel? Sorry, no sympathy for diesel guys here.
@NoWay,
That “tar sands sludge” puts food on the table of many families here in BC whose bread winner commutes to work; and it puts LOTS of money into the Canadian economy. Maybe think before you get all down on our neighbours in Alberta.
And still waiting to see any significant drop in price at pumps in the Terrace/Kitimat/Prince Rupert area.
THANK YOU COSTCO, PLEASE SELL DEISEL TO HELP THE CONSUMERS NOW FROM BEING RIPPED OFF BY BIG OIL COMPANIES
First time in this town we have seen any variation in fuel pricing-maybe Costco is changing the price too fast for them and they just can’t get up the ladder quick enough to juggle their numbers. I am still waiting for one of the fuel outlets to have a lower price than Costco.
Diesel prices are up because of the heavy usage in the industrial sector all across the country. Production capacity is maxed out.
seamut-So I guess what you are trying to tell us is gas production was maxed out before Costco came to town.
I am very thankful to Costco for opening their gas station and I puchase most of my gas there. I have a quetions for other users…
Do the Costco pumps seem slow? Not the line up, but the rate at which the fuel goes into your tank. To me, it seems like it takes about 50% longer to gas up at Costco than other gas stations. Anybody else have the same thoughts or am I just crazy?
your not crazy kolberg,
I think they might be a little bit slower, not a huge amount….
with the amount of pumps working at any one time could explain the speed of filling…
Well, we are still sitting at $1.339 here in Prince Rupert. I hope the prices go down here soon.
What’s diesel?
The lack of any mention of diesel in the media and the gouging that has been going on, leads me to believe it doesn’t really exist.

You might want to check your facts, cause most of what you’re saying isn’t.
diesel, my neighbour has one.. The clak clak clak of his truck running at 5 am is unacceptable. Maybe get them as quiet as gas then stop the exhaust from being carcinogenic then worry about lowering the price. Just love it when behind a diesel burner as they belch out exhaust..
Screw the diesel, it’s dirty fuel, stick with gas.LOL
Diesel should be cheaper. We’re still getting screwed. If the cost of diesel were reasonable we would all be better off; the whole cost of living would come down.
Old man I have been in Alberta when a lot of stations where out of diesel because of a combination of refinery maintenance and high industrial usage. Direct experience. Was able to buy some from a grain farmer though that was two years ago.
Usage is still very high.

Saw this article in the province. I’m not sure if it explains why our gas prices are so high,
or if it’s an example of free enterprise at its best.

We are getting ripped off by the gas companies. They are screwing with the price increases for gas. We should have control over the price of gasoline.
Check your facts, diesel engine haters;
With all of the mandated emission reduction requirements coming into force within the last 10 years eg. low sulphur diesel fuel, diesel particulate filters, and D.E.F. the exhaust from a modern diesel burning vehicle is not nearly as toxic or carcinogenic as it once was. And many engine designs have become much quieter, with the advent of common rail fuel injection.
Statement of above facts assumes that the emissions reduction technologies have not been defeated in order to improve fuel economy and gain a few ponies.
