Election Responsibilities Not Completed Yet

Sunday, November 16, 2014 @ 4:51 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Well the voting may be over in the 2014 municipal election but there are duties which remain to be completed.

First, and most importantly, the election results will not be final until officially declared so by the Chief Election Officer by 4pm, Wednesday November 19th.

As well all candidates, both successful and unsuccessful, have steps that must be taken in accordance with local and provincial regulations. First of all, election signs must be taken down and removed within three days of general voting day, which would make that deadline Tuesday, November 18th. That is in accordance with the City of Prince George Sign Bylaw.

Also, as explained by the City’s Chief Election Officer Walter Babicz, “there are several other post-election responsibilities, including taking an oath of office, filing candidate financing disclosure statements with Elections B.C. and other ongoing financial disclosure requirements.” They are contained in the Candidate’s Guide provided by the provincial government. It can be found at:

It will be nice to see the signs disappear. I think the sign thing was overdone this time around.

Lots of people out today removing the signs! Good to see.

So after I went and voted I was driving up Ferry Blvd and there was Brian Skakun taking down his signs .The poles weren’t even closed yet .

Thank you Brian ,please keep up the hard work .

Was there a record turnout for voters?

Sign thing was waaaay over done correct on that! Now candidates old and new, get the heck outside and clean up your mess! I was hoping to see some of them gone today but heck no still sitting on the sides of each intersection. 2018 should be done different and limit those unsightly signs.

little wonder few people want to run,
you have to be a laywer to understamnd the candidates guide….
or just ignore it and hope you don’t get caught
