Prince George, B.C. – Incumbent councilor Brian Skakun topped the polls with 12,674 votes in the civic election.

Skakun says “I’m very pleased, you know I’ve always run sort of as low budget campaign, not a lot of signs, but I’ve worked hard over the years and I’m really humbled by the support that people have shown me this time around. I’m really, really excited about this team we have going forward. We have three women on there, we have some incumbents back, we have Lyn in the mayor’s chair so really we have a good team and this is the most excited I’ve been in a long time.”

Skakun says “I think we have some really dynamic and intelligent people at the table and just working with some of them on the campaign trail I sense that we’re all going to be able to pull together for the betterment of Prince George.”

Skakun says transparency is a huge issue and many people talked about it during the campaign “but I think one thing that we have to do is sit down, either the mayor or council, with senior administration and find out if things are going to align between what we want and what they want. We will never be blindsided like we were in this last term like we were with layoffs and things like that. It’ll be clear from some of us on council that that’s absolutely not acceptable but knowing Lyn and having worked with him I know he’s going to keep those lines of communication open between council, and that critical because if we don’t know what’s going on at City Hall, how are we going to represent people?”

“So I think we’re going to have much better communication, we’ll put as much as we possibly can out publicly and council, I think, is going to be better informed this time around.”

Congratulations Brian. Well done!

Same sh@t different day Brian.. Nothing will change, hasn’t happened anytime since you have been on council. But at least you still get to make more money from the tax payers.

I wish you well, Brian. My wish is that Mayor and council have a lot less of the “In Camera” stuff and let us, the electorate know a lot more about what’s going on before it happens and while it’s happening, and quit allowing administration dictating to council what to do or how to do it, fed up with that.
We certainly don’t need more consultant fees when the experts are here with feet on the ground doing the job.
How about suggestion box comments that are taken seriously, your front line workers always have been the best source of information. And for crying out loud, get the cleaners back in the pools.

12,674 of the people like that same Sh@t. And that would be me included. get over it.

P Val.. Should have run for office..

I can’t wait to see what the first non-issue is that this pompous windbag brings to the forefront.

Were the hell have you been axman. Didn’t hear from you on 250 during the campaign now you come out and give us all this sh**t. Well 12000 plus voters didn’t have your opinion. Way to go Brian best of luck.
Cheers

Given that almost 5000 people voted for Stolz, I put little faith in Joe Average’s opinion. :)

HA ha Stoltz didnt make it. Thats good news Yeah I know your a pompas ass.
Cheers

We know this for sure, they all get a paycheck every two weeks, Lets hope they actually earn that paycheck, especialy since most have other jobs as well.
The new mix seems pretty good I think. A little shy on businesse people, A little
heavy on union people, which will mean a very expensive cost to the taxpayers. All in all, taxes are going up.Nothing changes.

Congratulations Brian!
Hopefully, the secrecy surrounding the bureaucracy at City Hall will become a thing of the past soon!
I look forward to far more responsible spending, no more borrowing for multi million dollar cop shops, etc. but money spent on ageing infrastructure that benefit the majority.

Sorry that I can’t forget Brian breaking the law.. Then lying about it. Guess lots can, or they are ignorant to what happened.

Or they just know a good thing when they see it…
Two words.. ‘Scoreboard!’
Wonder shy over 12000 people didnt vote for the one you did P Val
Now pace the room back and forth for the next four years and maybe then you’ll be a little more educated on how things work
Congrats Brian
City is one step closer to the right direction

How things work..

Past behaviour predicts future behaviour, so maybe next time super Brian breaks the law he will see jail time :)

It’s not that he broke the law. That report should have been made public, I don’t care if the guy was a superintendent, it should never have been a secret. And hopefully Lynn can change that.

Hey maybe look at Stoltz. X- Mayor Green. They break the rules and do it right in our faces. Where were on that one P-Val?

Did you see the big Bid Construction sign in Vanderhoof with Greens face all over it promoting Green in the conservative riding. Shari claimed Brian Fehr the owner of Bid were only acquaintance’s when Mr. Meisner questioned her with that relationship. Stoltz being in business with L&M Engineering did not influence his vote on council did it? With the majority of the new developments and engineering for those developments belonging to L&m Engineering I would assume how Stoltz may of voted.

Both of those people need to have their political future taken away from them more so than Brian did for being transparent.

Move on P-Val

Does this now mean that the IPG will get closed down, also the DBIA, the double tax for certain places? Please Lynn hall, get rid of these tax burdens, Oh, and that lady hired to do Sherry greens work, is it Beth James? maybe send her with Sherry. Wow
good times comeing up. fingers crossed.

Oh and while im at it, no more crap about the twinning in bejing. lol. I cant believe this. Let just stick with one Prince George.

Rules don’t equal law..

By 8. Thanks for the joke… Brian being transparent..

Let’s refresh your brain

Brian illegally leaked documents to cibc
Brian then said he didn’t
Brian then said he might have
Brian then said he did leak them
Brian then wanted the tax payers to pay his legal fees

Next
Brian also said he voted against the raise for council members. Which he did on the first reading..
Brian the voted for it on the third reading..he actually brought the mention forward.

Yeah..he is a transparent as mud

But he did get in….let’s hope he actually does what he says as we now have 4 years of his media grandstanding in front of us.

P Val. Here are some laws that have been broken.

1. Rosa Parks sat in the front of the bus.
2. Martin Luther King
3. Gandhi broke British Laws
4. Jesus defied the laws of the day and taught in synagogues
5. Muhammad smashed idols in mecca, defying the religious order of the day.

Not that Skakun belongs to such illustrious company, but you get my drift.

**If the law is bad-break it.**

Palopu

It’s fine if you like and support Brian, there will always be a segment of a community like this that will cheer for a person like that, but he didn’t just break a law that is in place for a very good reason, he breached his oath of office in doing so. Then he lied about it and then wept and apologized in Council when they were considering censuring him. He turned it into his own personal crusade only later, for his own convenience and the sake of his ego in my opinion. To me that’s unforgivable, especially in light of the fact that the Judge said that he didn’t avail himself of all his options before taking the course of action he did. That’s just me though and I accept that people are willing to overlook that because they believe he was doing the “right” thing. However, I’m not about to stand around though and have someone compare what he did, even blithely, to the 5 characters you mention above. He is no hero. His heart might have been in the right place, but he went about it all wrong and he knows it.

Exactly Sine

Btw comparing skakun to any real heros is appauling.

p-val. get over it and move on. don’t you have something worth while to talk about? 12674 people voted for him. now you want to take them all on. dumb

By 8.. Aka Brian. No thanks.. Will post my opinion as I like, just like everyone else on here. Sorry for making you look bad Brian.

Guess you are upset at the Facts..lol

V Pal for mayor 2018

Should be able to count the votes for V Pal on one hand

Maybe two

Lets give him/her the benefit of the doubt,

Well can’t run as my work would make me miss a majority of the meetings, and running for mayor is out of the question as why would I take a huge pay cut ?

Funny… You sure seem to have all the time in the world on here P Val
Sorry it didnt work out for you
Majority rules

Yes my job does permit me internet access.. Like most do these days.

Majority rules…yep..just like when the majority of voters gave green the mayors chair.. What a fiasco that was.
