School Board Meets for Final Time
Prince George, B.C. – A relatively light agenda tonight for what will be the final board meeting for the current batch of trustees in School District 57.
Two recommendations will be put forward including one from the Education Services Committee calling for the installation of a new playground at Southridge Elementary School.
If approved it will be installed in the spring/summer of 2015 at a cost of just under $55,000 with the Southridge Parent Advisory Council picking up the tab.
The board will also vote on a minor revision to the district’s Student Conduct Review Committee (SCRC) which was created back in 1995 to review “serious or repeated breaches of school and/or district codes of conduct.”
With a dramatic decline in the number of hearings the past few years the Policy and Governance Committee has recommended moving from quarterly reports to annual reports.
The committee says it addresses privacy concerns as reports to the board generally include school names and information about incidents which makes it easier to identify specific students.
After tonight the first meeting of the newly elected board takes place December 9th.
