Mother Nature Impacts Flights

Thursday, November 27, 2014 @ 7:46 PM

Prince George, B.C.- Yesterday the Prince George Airport experienced cancelled flights because  of an equipment issue,  today it’s Mother Nature that’s to blame.

One WestJet flight from Vancouver  was cancelled,  another  has been delayed as is a West Jet flight from Calgary.

On the departures side,  one  WestJet flight to Vancouver has been cancelled.

The delays  come  as the airlines  have been trying to clear the backlog created by  yesterday’s  NAV Canada  weather system  failure.

The weather has been causing  major transportation problems across the region.

Much of Highway 16 east of Prince George has been  the subject of a travel advisory much of the day as  there are white out conditions  from 50 miles  west of McBride  right through to  Tete Jaune and then  on to  the BC/ Alberta border.

Highway 5  out of Valemount was closed for a time because of a crash,  and  16 west , west of Fraser Lake was closed for a time because a collision.

Callers tell 250News  highway 97 between Prince George and Quesnel is also  a very tough go with  white out conditions.
