Mother Nature Impacts Flights
Prince George, B.C.- Yesterday the Prince George Airport experienced cancelled flights because of an equipment issue, today it’s Mother Nature that’s to blame.
One WestJet flight from Vancouver was cancelled, another has been delayed as is a West Jet flight from Calgary.
On the departures side, one WestJet flight to Vancouver has been cancelled.
The delays come as the airlines have been trying to clear the backlog created by yesterday’s NAV Canada weather system failure.
The weather has been causing major transportation problems across the region.
Much of Highway 16 east of Prince George has been the subject of a travel advisory much of the day as there are white out conditions from 50 miles west of McBride right through to Tete Jaune and then on to the BC/ Alberta border.
Highway 5 out of Valemount was closed for a time because of a crash, and 16 west , west of Fraser Lake was closed for a time because a collision.
Callers tell 250News highway 97 between Prince George and Quesnel is also a very tough go with white out conditions.
