Prince George, B.C. – There was a special cake cutting at the YMCA of Northern BC this afternoon to celebrate the organizations’ 50th birthday in the city.
CEO Amanda Alexander called the birthday “an amazing milestone” and also took some time to review their many accomplishments.
“We’re at one of our highest membership levels which is really exciting because it’s about people having the opportunity to connect with a healthy peer group and being active and more productive when you get back to your desk.”
She says the Y has also seen positive growth in its childcare programs.
“We’ve done a huge expansion over the years. We’re really excited about being the largest child care provider north of Vancouver.”
And Alexander says one of their keys to success is that they are able to offer their services at an affordable price.
“That’s a huge tenet of what we believe in in terms of accessibility. Everyone regardless of their financial means has the opportunity to connect.”
