Vacancy Rate Slips in P.G.
Prince George, B .C. – It’s a little tougher to find a place to rent in Prince George this fall.
Canada Mortgage and Housing reports the vacancy rate in Prince George slipped to 3% in October, down from 3.8% recorded in October 2013.
When broken down into specific areas of the City, the rate in the downtown was 5.8%, but dropped to 3.3% in October, while the rate in outlying areas inched up to 2.8% from the 2.7% recorded in the same month a year ago.
The average rent for a 2 bedroom unit in Prince George has increased by 2.9% over the same period. Average rent for a two bedroom unit in Prince George is now $771 a month, up from $754 charged in October of 2013.
Prince George is not the only B.C. community to see a decline in the Vacancy Rate. The stats indicate the rate declined in all but 7 of the 27 communities monitored.
One of those communities is Terrace, where the vacancy rate is now 3.2% compared to zero a year ago.

The provincial rate is down to 1.5%, slipping nearly a full percentage point from the 2.4% recorded in October of last year.

Hopefully the new counsel conducts a census soon. Would be nice to know what we the tax payers are paying in taxes per capital.
City councils do not conduct Census’
That is the sole purview of the Federal Government!
