Prince George, B.C. – Canadian Blood Services is encouraging Prince George residents to take part in their Wrap it Up Red holiday campaign.

“What we’ve done in our clinics across the country is actually have blood recipients and volunteers come in and actually wrap things in the clinic in support of blood donors,” says territory manager Amy Erickson.

“So last week we had little Foster come in, he’s a five year old blood recipient and he came in and wrapped up the door to our clinic and some presents in here just to make it more festive for donors.”

Traditionally she says they see a dip in appointment bookings this time of year and is hoping people come forward over the holiday season to meet the demand for blood.

“Blood is a perishable product so we’re constantly needing to replenish our inventory.”

If you’d like to donate the gift of blood here are the appointment hours for the clinic located at 2277 Westwood Drive:

Christmas Eve – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
New Year’s Eve – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
January 3 – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Erickson says they need to fill approximately 100 appointments over those three days.
