Driver Facing Multiple Charges Following Police Chase
Prince George, B.C. – A Prince George man is facing multiple charges following a police chase yesterday (see original story here).
It all started when police observed a 1994 Chevrolet Lumina with mismatched licence plates traveling west on 5th Avenue at Carney Street at around 3:00 p.m.
When police caught up to the vehicle to confirm the licence plates it accelerated onto Highway 97 then to the exit ramp onto North Nechako Road.
The driver then lost control and struck two traffic signs and sheared off a traffic control post.
The male driver subsequently fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later down the street.
Police say the car also contained various amounts of ammunition.
The driver is now facing the following charges: Flight from Police, Dangerous Driving, Breach of Recognisance, and Prohibited Driving.
He was also issued tickets for a variety of offences including no insurance, for driving an unregistered vehicle and for the misuse of licence plates.
The driver has been released from custody on a Promise to Appear in court and a name has not been released.
Any witnesses to this incident are encouraged to call police.

So one of the charges is Breach of Recognisance. Then he is released on a Promise to Appear. Why is Canada so in love with cheats, liars and thieves. “You Sir, will be severely reprimanded after your 100th crime”.
Story would have read a little differently if the perp was employed.
Thank goodness he didn’t take someone else out with him. Poor choice of lifestyle.
It will take him a while to pay for the repairs to restore the traffic lights since he has no insurance. Surely they will confiscate some of his earnings when he goes to work?
(I know that this is wishful thinking…).
Pretty much my thoughts exactly, Digitus. We have a brand new police facility with 20 odd accommodation rooms. Right? Why release him? He shows a complete lack of respect for citizen safety and authority. Does it cost too much to house him? What’s an innocent life worth?
Let him cool his jets in jail over the holidays and see how he likes that. A car full of ammo too, this kid sounds like a serious loser that should be off the streets.
Citizens On Patrol.
What is wrong with having ammo in the car. Last I read it is not illegal to have ammunition in your possession or in your car.
You must be joking, apester. You think a reasonable duty of care, would allow for you to leave unsecured ammunition in an open car that you’re abandoning? I sincerely hope you don’t have a firearms license. You do realize that ammunition also happen to be explosives, right?
Criminal Code of Canada
Careless use of firearm, etc.
86. (1) Every person commits an offence who, without lawful excuse, uses, carries, handles, ships, transports or stores a firearm, a prohibited weapon, a restricted weapon, a prohibited device or any ammunition or prohibited ammunition in a careless manner or without reasonable precautions for the safety of other persons.
Contravention of storage regulations, etc.
(2) Every person commits an offence who contravenes a regulation made under paragraph 117(h) of the Firearms Act respecting the storage, handling, transportation, shipping, display, advertising and mail-order sales of firearms and restricted weapons.
You must be joking Sine. Apesters comment was in direct response to your comment “A car full of ammo too, this kid sounds like a serious loser that should be off the streets.”
There is nothing wrong with having ammunition in the car and it isn’t illegal unless the guy doesn’t have a PAL.
In case you missed it, there were no ammunition related charges in this case.
Does anyone think this idiot actually had a PAL?
Hmmmm another “Promise to appear” Any bets on this one
I don’t think ammo in the car is an issue, but the fact that he just led police on a chase and fled the vehicle is. And then for the police to find ammo in the vehicle leads them to believe that there is a possibility now that the guy is armed. And since he just led police on a chase, it probably isn’t a legal firearm either.
axman are you OK.
Cheers

” when he goes to work? ”
LOL, I’m going to go out on a limb here, and assume that this driver is not a gainfully employed contributor to society.
And yet the law allows him and other idiots like him to walk freely among us, wow, something wrong with our legal system.
I would agree that there is nothing wrong with having some ammo in your vehicle, if you are in transit from the shooting range, or the store where you purchased it.
In the context of this story however, there are plenty of reasons to cite the driver for loose ammunition.

Your crush on me is a tad creepy.
Varius amounts of ammo, I think they would want to know where the guns or rifles are.
