Prince George, B.C. – A couple of  young adults in Prince George can expect  a visit this evening, and it won’t be  from Santa.

This afternoon,  two people  were spotted on the ice  on the edge of the Nechako River.

Fearing for their safety,  several calls were placed to police and  Prince George Fire Rescue.

With Sirens blaring and lights flashing, emergency personnel  arrived at the Foothills Bridge.  Some,  like the two in the photo, donned  wet suits and positioned themselves further downstream just in case the  two had  floated past  the Foothills Bridge before  emergency personnel had arrived on scene.

Seems the two young adults  high-tailed it out of the area  when they saw all the emergency vehicles.

Authorities know who they are and plan to pay them a visit to talk about the danger  they  had placed themselves in and what could have been a very  unhappy  ending to this  night before Christmas tale.

Another waste of taxpayer dollars, let Darwin’s theory go into effect and stop trying to save the world

Wow, what an ignorant comment! Merry Christmas PG101!

No PG101..It would be a waste of money saving your ungrateful ass.. You think this was expensive? Try a body recovery and investigation.. (Which by your logic that would be the desired outcome.)Even though no one got hurt these kind of calls are a valuable training excercises and are worth their weight in gold.. Fireman and rescue teams have a saying for people like you.. “The face your trash talking now is connected to the person who will be saving your ass later.”

Body recovery is gruesome and weighs on your mind. Just happy no one had to go through that!
Happy Christmas to all our emergency personnel!

I agree, with Ride-on. That was someones’ kids!!! No parent wants to hear news like that; thank heaven it didn’t end badly.

Hopefully you never need the assistance of emergency services for any reason.

Was there a danger? This time of year the river is so low you can walk across it behind Excel!maybe a little deeper at foothills but still low. Did those folks call it in while driving? Would they do the same if they seen someone on their phone and or texting while driving? Death on the road from people playing with their little toys has surpassed impaired deaths. So a couple people go out on the ice and the shit hits the fan I hope those same folks call in the idiots on their little toys.

I think maybe a little over reaction from the well intentioned citizens phoning this in. I think NoWay has a point, did the persons reporting just keep driving on, pleased that he she or they had done their civic duty?
Like driving past a car in the ditch, not stopping, but salving your conscience with a call to emergency service.

I think that if I was concerned about what I saw; two people on the ice, I would have observed them for a moment to determine their intent.
Sure their situation may have been dangerous, but who hasn’t done something similar? Stood near the edge of a cliff? Climbed a tall tree?

Our emergency responders literally put their lives on the line during a call like this, of course they choose that line of work and typically enjoy the adrenaline rush and the teamwork. And the call outs help sharpen their reactions, they’re really good practice actually.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

metalman.

Okay, let’s put it to bed now. I just wish for everyone a very nice and safe Christmas! Hopefully not too many calls come in for emergency personnel, although you know they will answer if there are. Thankyou to all of you. Lets make it a good Christmas for them too.
Best wishes for everyone in the New Year.

Love all the overreactions here. The headline mocked the entire situation, and I can jump the Nechako right about now it’s so low. “Hopefully you never need the assistance of emergency services for any reason.” – I’m not stupid enough to wander around the river, you won’t have to worry about it. But thanks for the lol, over reaction.

Its funny how the troll keeps on finding people to bite!
DON’T FEED THE TROLL!
