Prince George, B.C. The YMCA on Massey Drive in Prince George was evacuated this morning following a minor explosion in a mechanical room.
Shortly after 10 this morning, sixteen firefighters from three Prince George Fire Rescue halls responded to the call at the Y about an explosion.
When they arrived, crews found the building being evacuated with no signs of a fire.
Once inside the building, fire crews found that a small explosion had happened in the maintenance room. One of the sprinkler heads had been activated.
There was no fire and no injuries to any occupants or firefighters. There is no estimate of dollar loss at this time.
This incident is still under investigation and not suspicious in nature.
According to the YMCA, the explosion was caused by a butane canister in the maintenance area. The YMCA hopes to reopen it’s doors to the public by 3 this afternoon.

ohhh thats why everyone was outside doing the YMCA dance.. Thought it was an exercise class that decided to take it outside
