How Low Can It Go

gas

Prince George- How low can it go. Well the price of gas has dropped yet again to make it the second lowest in the province.

Next to Costco Kamloops, with a price of 90.0 cents a litre, Prince George with a price of 91.9 was second overall.

It is interesting  to note that of the top four lowest prices in the province according to Gas Buddy all were Costco stations .

The price for a litre of regular at one Costco in Edmonton , 72.9cents

THANK YOU COSTCO!! Prince George used to be one of the highest priced in the province for a litre of gas, now we are one of the cheapest. No thanks is due to the big gas companies…. Esso, Chevron etc.

All those years of being ripped off. I don’t feel sorry for the stations who have lost business. Thank Costco for the cheap gas!

Yes because Costco is the reason for Cheap gas. The price of oil plunging towards $40/barrel is a direct result of the Costco Gas bar in Prince George.

Rocketeer, pathetic response dude.. You do realize that since Costco opened up their gas bar it’s always been cheaper than the other gas stations in town no matter the price of oil? You do realize they have proven we where being gouged by the others in town for decades? You do realize this I hope.. Or you are involved in the selling of gas in town and are one of the gougers and now have to face the music of basically stealing for a long time.

You do realize that before Costco gas Prince George was aways comfortably mid-pack for provincia pricing right? As in “average” or low side of it. Its only PGrs who think they pay more – kind of an urban myth ;)

Having said that, thanks for bringing us to the bottom Costco!

Why is dorsal so high priced?

*diesel

Yes I have no sympathy for the fuel gougers in this city. If Costco ever sells diesel the majority of the population will most likely support Costco. Abbotsford diesel at $112.9—PG

From above Pg $123.9

Imagine no carbon tax scam.

I was in Calgary yesterday and the price at the regular pump was 85.9. I don’t know what Costco was.

Strange, isn’t it? Diesel, historically was about 1/3 the price of gas. This was for years and years, until car manufacturers started offering diesel engines, which gave better mileage. Once these got fairly popular, up went the price. The trucks and transportation in general have taken the biggest hit on this, which has vastly increased the cost of all transported items.
Makes you wonder just who it is that is pulling all the strings, doesn’t it?

you think you’re being gouged in PG? come to Quesnel, and see what gouging really is! We were 16 or 17 cents a litre higher when Costco opened. It never really changed, though in the past week or two, I notice the difference has dropped to 10 cents…enjoy your cheaper fuel! Just make sure to fill up before you leave if you’re heading south!

I rarely see diesel passenger cars on the road give more where do you live?

The reason diesel is so much higher than gasoline is because the oil companies have a huge captive market in the diesel business, and they know all the big rig truckers out there have nowhere else to turn to when they need fuel to keep their trucks producing an income for themselves and their families.

You pay whatever price diesel is going for, or simply park your truck and lose everything.

Like fish in a barrel. Easy pickings.

Just think without the carbon tax we would be matching Alberta for prices.

Palomino

Do realize that if you bought it,chances are a truck brought it?

@rambleon VW TDIs are all over the place

Yesterday BC average price was 9th highest in all the provinces and probably the same today

Bah I was at Costco earlier in the afternoon and it was 93.9 lol.

For the retailers profit margins on gas are wafer thin to begin with. The real profits for most come from the convenience stores attached. Nobody has a bigger more lucrative “convenience store” attached to their pumps than Costco. Costco can afford to sell gas at break even or even as a loss leader. The mom and pop gas bar/convenience store cannot.

As for diesel a big factor there is the simple fact it takes more crude to produce diesel than it does the more highly refined gasoline. It stands to reason lower crude prices have a greater impact on gas prices than diesel.

Diesel engines — whether in a semi or a VW Jetta — are more efficient because of the diesel engine process, which burns fuel at a much higher temperature than regular gasoline engines, promoting more efficient fuel combustion. Also, diesel fuel has a higher energy density than standard gasoline, meaning it takes less fuel to provide the same power as standard gasoline.

A liter of diesel is more expensive than a liter of gasoline but one gets more bang (mileage) for a buck.

Less diesel produced out of a barrel than gasoline, along with heavy industrial use keeps the price up. Having said that a discounted source like Costco would help bring the price down.

Paris is going to ban diesel vehicles because of higher emissions.

Many countries are looking at getting rid of deisel burning vehicles as the exhaust is carcinogenic.

2003 oil was about 25.00 a barrel and gas was about .65/litre. Let’s shoot for that!

NoWay, I find it interesting that we are all jumping for joy now that gas is below $1.00 a litre. At this price of crude we really should be at .75 a litre. We are still paying for,the billion dollar projects going on in and around mcmurray. I am sure the oil companies have many reasons for the price staying so high. Of course it’s all lies but gives the media something to print.

I remember when the tar sands said they couldn’t make money if the price dropped below $60. Well it’s only $55.91 and they aren’t slowing down or shutting down extraction. One of two reasons, one, they have been lying to us all along. Or two they extraction and or refinement methods have improved so they can do it cheaper ( if that’s so then shouldn’t we have seen a cut in gas prices a long time ago?

Anyway you look at it.. We pay what ever the pump says.. So now I only go to Costco for gas. If you saw the line up at Costco today you will see many are doing the same thing.

Pval, dump the carbon tax and prices will be getting close to your 75 cents.

Oil sand oil extraction is planned for the long term. There will be layoffs but planning is over decades. Prices will go back up in a year or so as markets adjust.
