“Conifex is a great company, and I continue to sit on the Board and will contribute from that angle, but I was finding the combination of trying to do the winery, continue to run the family business in Prince George and work full time for Conifex just was overwhelming. So something had to go and family comes first.”
Bell and his family are developing the Northern Lights Estate Winery on P.G. Pulpmill Road, a project that is still being developed.
“I was spreading myself way too thin” says Bell who adds “I don’t like to do anything poorly, so it was a simple decision, do I commit myself to the family business or do I stay full time with Conifex? Conifex has asked me to stay on the Board, so I will continue to contribute through that perspective and be able to dedicate myself more fully to the winery.”
It has been a tough start to the new year for Bell.
On the weekend, he was on Tabor Mountain when he started feeling what he thought were flu like symptoms. Before the day was over, he would find himself recovering from an emergency appendectomy.
