CNC Celebrates Diversity
Prince George, B.C. – The College of New Caledonia celebrated its diversity by holding a special art day today.
“This event is a part of a larger series of sessions that we’ve been hosting around internationalization and indigenization here at CNC,” said community and student services coordinator Elyse Elmslie.
“It’s about creating more of a culture of inclusiveness here on campus. We have a very diverse college community here and it’s important to bring that to light and help people recognize and appreciate it.”
CNC student Roxanne Quock demonstrated that inclusive spirit through some of her artwork.
“What we’re doing here is making hearts. We all have hearts , we all have ideas about our hearts and hearts symbolize our soul, our interests and who we are. And if you take a look at all the different cards you’ll see that each and every single one is completely different. It shows you the diversity we have at CNC.”
In September Anne Harris, operations manager for International Education at CNC, estimated the school was expecting over 300 international students last semester with students from around the globe including China, India, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Brazil, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Russia.
