PG Library Flushed with Excitement Over New Bathrooms
Prince George, B.C. – It’s an event any comedian could likely find hundreds of one-liners for, but it’s all geared toward making life just a little easier for patrons of the Prince George Public Library.
Mayor Lyn Hall, Chief Librarian Janet Marren and other project supporters will be on hand this morning for the opening of new public washroom facilities at the Bob Harkins Branch of the library. The City of Prince George funded the project, with Wayne Watson Construction completing the construction.
The new facilities are fully accessible, automated and also include a separate gender-neutral/family room. “This is a highly used City-owned facility,” says Marren “and we are so pleased to be able to offer the public these newly renovated and upgraded washrooms that meet everyone’s accessibility needs.”
Also installed at the library are 2 water bottle filling stations/drinking fountains donated by the 2015 Canada Winter Games and REAPS Direct Access Gaming Grant.
The “grand opening” of the new facilities takes place at the Bob Harkins branch at 10:15 this morning.

“Gender Neutral” seems to be the rage buzzword nowadays.
Wonder when the city is going to do something about those disgusting washrooms at Freeman Park.
When are they going to improve accessibility to the library itself? I rarely see seniors there. Scary parking lot, heavy doors and too many stairs. At least they improved the old elevator.
The doors all have buttons to open them and there’s an elevator. I definitely wouldn’t be taking the stairs out front if I had mobility issues, but I’m not sure that stairs are a huge problem when there’s an elevator and I’m not sure how heavy doors are a problem when they all open themselves. Maybe I’m missing something…
The bathrooms were sorely needed, so this is great news.
