Winter Weather Affects Roads and Hydro
Prince George, B.C. – Not only is the weather affecting driving conditions on city streets and area highways, it is also leaving some people in the dark as temperatures start to drop to more seasonal levels.
B.C. Hydro reports 197 Prince George customers without power. That includes Prince George Pulp Mill Road, Hofferkamp Road, the 5100 b lock Hart Highway, Barnes Road, east of Shields Road, 9100 block Old Summit Lake Road and the 93oo block Rock Island Road. Power is expected to be restored to those areas between 10 tonight and 2 am tomorrow.
Meantime B.C. Hydro says 594 customers are without power in Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Smithers this evening.
And streets and highways throughout the region are deteriorating further than the shape they were in during today’s snowfall. Snow has stopped in many ares but vehicular travel coupled with gusting winds are resulting in very polished, extremely icey conditions.
If you don’t have to drive tonight, you’re advised to stay off the roads.
