1st to comment…trippy!

Do you like your boss? Barely tolerate or flat out hate your boss?

My boss did something this week that really caused me to reflect on all the different styles of leadership I’ve had in my career. Quite unexpectedly, out of no where, my boss presented me with a $100 VISA gift card, we don’t have a progam in place to award employee’s monitarily, this came from his own pocket!

His reasoning is that I regularly do a couple things that have made his job easier, for this I should be shown appriciation from him personally…WHAT THE HELL?? What planet did this guy come from?

To be clear, I’m not some girl he’s trying to impress, just another dude working for a living.

I must admit, given his daily pleasent demeanour, his dedication to our employer, the crafty move that 100 bucks just bought him a really dedicated employee…I love this guy!

What are your stories? Good boss, bad boss, any tales that really stand out?

BTW, Please make the best out of these Canada Winter Games, many, many people have poured their hearts into these games from the athletes to the volunteers, all want to give YOU the beat experience they can, we’ve got $41 million buck in this game, don’t sit behind your keyboard and bitch about it…take it in and have fun!

Oh yeah!
Keep Right Except To Speed.

Okay…before the grammar police attack me. Beat>Best.

$41 million? Is that what its going to cost us for hosting them?
I was wondering what the figure might be but I didn’t expect it to be that much!
Are you sure?

Well the city has been extorting money from homeowners to pay for this two week sports day through confiscatory billing on our city taxes for how many years now? Mandatory. At the point of a gun. Regardless of whether we are participating. Gotta love living in a “free” country. *cough*

Since we were forced to pay for these games, might as well line the streets waving flags like North Korean citizens.

And before someone accuses me of being overly dramatic… taxes are paid by law. Fail to pay them and people with guns on their hips come to your door to either arrest you or confiscate your property in order to collect said taxes.

FRIDAY THE 13th..

If Harper gets his way we could all be marching doing the goose step alongside Ukrainian fascist mercenaries in Eastern Ukraine, rather than going to the polls.

Harper and Jason Kenney yesterday (PG Citizen Page 14) said that, “All options are on the table” and that Canada would be open to send ‘trainers’ to the front lines in East Ukraine along with the Americans if there was consensus on the role Canada could play.

Same day the Americans announced a Billion dollars to arm the Ukrainian Military with lethal weapons and set up training in the East.

Then in Minsk Putin signs a wish list with Ukraine under the guise of a peace treaty, that neither the French President or German Chancellor signed, but removes the sanctions on Russia from the Europeans, and isn’t agreed on by the primary antagonists on the ground and in Kiev.

So not to be undone by his promise to fast track free trade last week, Harper takes this time to double down with an all options on the table promise to Ukraine for Canadians to fight alongside, what is essentially mostly fascist mercenary terrorists by any other definition (like the right sector and svoboda)… the Ukrainian army is outnumbered by their own extremists at the front lines, and that is where Harper wants to insert Canada to show them how to fight.

Next thing we know Harper will be calling for conscription claiming the reds are coming and using all his new powers to ensure ‘security’. People easily forget how easy it was for bankers to put humanity to the meat grinder in both WW1 and WW2 and how our leaders are following the 1% down the same path today.

So Sun TV is no more. i can’t say that I’m surprised. Everytime I turned to that channel, it seemed like a show was being produced out of someone’s basement. I also found the entire brand childish and annoying.

Keep your eyes on Northern Health, the future is grim.

“So Sun TV is no more”. Sun TV was the Canadian version of Fox News (Faux News) that the U.S. has. Minus the blonde hotties in mini dresses.

Huh? Grim for who? The freeloaders in the organization? The public? Who?

Good morning PG, and happy Friday the 13th!
It sure didn’t take long for the perpetual whiners to find something to complain about regarding the Winter Games. Good luck to all the athletes! I hope the weather co-operates a bit more for this event.

Feeling quite excited about the Canada Winter Games about to commence in our city. We have something to be proud about, let’s enjoy it while it lasts. Go athletes, go!

Hopefully the city has got the pulp mills on board to reduce emissions. I would hate to see Prince George receive yet another blow to taint it’s image. “Stinkiest Crime city of Canada”

Complaining about complainers is hilarious a Troutbum. Did they move the speed skating to Fort Saint John yet?

Agreed Eagleone. Ever see a beaver fight a bear!

Did they bus out all the street people yet for the Winter Rains?

What was the 41 million spent on?

The robins are showing up in the Okanagan. Gees maybe the way the weather is playing out this year we will have the hummers here in March.

Wahoo, the winter games are here. A few people have asked me how it is going to impact some people directly.

My answer is if you stay at home and watch tv, and pound on a keyboard its not going to make any difference.

Most of the whinney people, are people that work all day, go home and than whine about everything, so if they just stay home it won’t make a difference at all.

Those people who are enthusiastic, are the people that are going to be out there anyway, so it should be a lot of fun. Party on.

ben this is for you look into how look to get building permit now with the new building code

Party on Garth.

Should be a fun couple of weeks!

As far as these Northern Canadian Winter Games- Where did I ever sign on to pay for a bunch of elitists at Otway Ski club to spend over a million dollars on their facility. We cant keep water mains from self destructing ( twice on central street and twice on Massey drive in 2014) nor maintain the roads.
Give me a break!!

Get ready for the ice jams and flooding. I see Alcan is going to increase flow 50% at Skins spillway. Tough on river critters as well.

Best wishes for the Games! :-)

And speaking of bosses’ “leadership style” – save me from the self-proclaimed “leaders.” Please. One of the WORST bosses I’ve ever had claimed expertise in “leadership” studies. Those who can’t, study?

Ok. Im all for games and some competition. I think it’s a great way to bring people together. However fireworks every single night? Are you kidding me? Have a good show in the open and close but to burn money every night? Come on guys. That’s excessive. Quality over quantity here. Jeeze. I’ve always wrestled with fireworks because there so expensive but there very neat so you can shuffle it off but to have a couple Roman candles go off every night just to say you did is silly. And I realize I’m behind a keyboard but who can I voice this to now? It’s too late to change. They never asked what people thought of fireworks every night before planning it. Other then that I really wish the weather would improve for the athletes.

Wasn’t it one of those great **Bosses** that deep sixed Target because he could not figure out retailing, or transportation and distribution.

There are good bosses around, however they are as rare as hen’s teeth.

wonder if they ever changed the arrow over the street sign at 4th and victoria? last time i was downtown (a couple of weeks ago) it STILL showed 4th avenue as a one-way street. wonder how many accidents will happen there – it might be more entertaining than the games

drove downtown last night around 9pm – not one banner, sign, or anything to denote that the games are here – only thing remotely “winter games” are the snowflakes on the side of city hall so yeah, if 41million is the right number, what did they spend all of OUR money on??

All I can say about these games is ” I don’t get it “, spending millions of dollars on hosting what is no more than a giant party for a bunch of 12 to 24 year olds …. Their coaches and parents ….. In the hopes that one day, an athlete might obtain a contract and be in a French fry commercial and make a few bucks ….
I have an idea ….. Let’s form a city maintenance committee , raise millions and millions of dollars and buy a few more snow ploughs and sand trucks and hire more people to run them ….. Then maybe, just maybe, the city’s mediocre attempts to keep our roads safe may be improved ….. Then ALL of us would actually have something to celebrate …

Eagleone:-“Next thing we know Harper will be calling for conscription claiming the reds are coming and using all his new powers to ensure ‘security’. People easily forget how easy it was for bankers to put humanity to the meat grinder in both WW1 and WW2 and how our leaders are following the 1% down the same path today.”
————————————————————————

What do you expect when you’re told endlessly you want ‘jobs, jobs, jobs’? By Harper, and ALL the rest of those who would lead us? Until you believe it, and start telling the ones who are telling you that the same thing?

Fighting a war always looks better than just telling people that have been told they want a ‘job’ when their work is no longer needed or wanted to go dig a hole and then fill it in again. And keep repeating the process, ad infinitum.

Just like a war, such an inanity as purposeless hole digging never produces anything that would ‘sell’ ~ and that’s the beauty of it. Because if you put all those same people to work producing something that WOULD ‘sell’, you still couldn’t sell it! Not at the currently accounted for ‘costs’ of its making, anyways.

Their production would only add to the glut of unsold and unsaleable production that already exists. If it didn’t, if there truly was a market for everything produced if everyone able to work was working, everyone able to work WOULD be working. You have to have a war or something else that destroys the unsaleable surpluses to have that. No one ever asks, “Where does the money to do all that come from when we have a war?”, do they? Another beauty of it!

Sans war, that could only come about if the total ‘incomes’ paid out to people were equal to the total ‘costs’ of production that have to be recovered in ‘prices’ in any same given period of time. Such is never the case so long as the only source of income for most people is the ‘job’.

I can hardly wait to so the benefits Prince George will reap from the Winter Games. Get ready for the population explosion. Think of all the businesses that will relocate here. I’m surprised that we haven’t already heard some big announcements.

I see the curmudgeons are in fine form this morning! Hopefully when one of them blows a blood vessel they don’t accept treatment at the MMU.

Personally, I think anyone who honestly believes that there will be a fiscal upside to these games is delusional. But who cares? It’s a two week party in front of the nation! Let your hair down and show the rest of the country that we’re not a bunch of hicks!

Wow, Lol-lol- what a novel idea. And can’t agree more about the games. Count me out.

Note to B. Eagle:
“As far as these Northern Canadian Winter Games- Where did I ever sign on to pay for a bunch of elitists at Otway Ski club to spend over a million dollars on their facility. ….”
Maybe you had better find out where the money for Otway Ski Trails improvements actually came from – certainly not the Winter Games or the City!!!!
The club worked hard at getting help from community people, groups and businesses – who together ‘made it happen’. We done Caledonia Nordics and Otway!
Of course, you don’t have to look far to see the ‘spantex crowd’ but then, this Million Dollar facility is there for ALL TO ENJOY. Even you, BE!
This legacy is a continuation of Participaction, the national personal action program introduced to us some fifty plus years ago. Enjoy it while you can!

“We done Caledonia Nordics ..” should be: WELL DONE CALEDONIA NORDICS AND OTWAY!

Canada Winter Games Tax 0.19133 of your assessed value. The annual cost based on a $230,000.00 home would be $44.00. This tax in effect for five years, (ends 2015) so approx. $220.00 for every home owner in Prince George, plus contributions from the Feds, Province, and Sponsors.

So the number $41 Million is probably close.

Not enough room for everyone to attend the opening at CN Centre, even with the $120.00 ticket cost, so those who can’t get or afford a ticket can stand in the rain and watch it on the big screen TV at the Civic Centre.

I guess none of you guys read that gay mafia story at vice.com or are you just being politically correct ? I noticed the righty harper folks went dead silent on that news . Real wholesome folks running our country . Just like you and me ,yikes . It’s going to be one heck of an election .

Axman. The definition of curmudgeon according to the Merriam Webster dictionary is “: a person (especially an old man) who is easily annoyed or angered and who often complains”. I don’t see anything negative in my previous post so I’m assuming I’m not a curmudgeon.

“So the number $41 Million is probably close. ”

——-

I heard 45 million on the radio this morning with 12 of that coming from the City.

When life hands you lemons make some lemonade! Or any other cliche that you deem fit.

“So the number $41 Million is probably close” .. according to the new this morning, it’s actually $45,000,000.00, the bulk of which apparently is paid for by the city of PG, which is you and me and everyone else who pays taxes here.

just came home – this was my route – 20th/queensway to 16west to future shop to range road to ospika to 5th to queensway to 17th. only sign i saw denoting the games was at 5th and street ramada is on – arrow on top of sign at 4th and victoria still denotes that 4th is a one-way. one would never know that a major national sports event is happening here. pathetic, just pathetic

Good morning to all my friends in George and others. Great day here in Abby. The Temp sits at 13c and there is some sunshine.

I see you will have great weather in PG for your Winter Games. I hope it wont get to slushy during the day for outdoor sports

In France 17 people died in a terrorist attack. The EU Parliament is talking about increased security in their transport system.

In Canada we had an unfortunate death at the War Museum and in Victoria the RCMP did a great job of getting two druggies that were planning an attack on the parliament building. In Canada we now have Bill C51 that gives CISI massive powers to search and arrest . Are we using a sledge hammer to kill a flea or are we getting ready to protect Big Oil ?
Cheers

What’s the point behind those big cages of rocks, at the RCMP station? There’s a layer of pretty, green, crystal things, with a giant heap of plain old, boring rocks, enclosed in a cage. Am I missing the symbolism?
The cops are so tough on crime, they even imprison the local rocks?

Socredible:”Because if you put all those same people to work producing something that WOULD ‘sell’, you still couldn’t sell it! Not at the currently accounted for ‘costs’ of its making, anyways.”

For Canada there is a great solution: Produce products and services which are unique, superior in quality and command premium prices – then export them globally to customers who have the money to pay for them! There are some countries that have been doing that for decades, successfully! Standing on the side lines while the others are competing is a recipe for failure.

A good week end to all, please drive to the road conditions, and try to appreciate that we have a national calibre sporting event happening right here in little old P.G. Hell, even TSN is in on the action.
Too bad that we don’t have more typical February
weather to improve the conditions for the outdoor events.

I sit here in chagrin, having turned down free tickets for the opening ceremonies, now I want to go! At least we can watch it on t.v. On our Bell satellite service, TSN2 starting at 7:00 pm

Lastly, a plea to the bosses at YRB; Please, Please, can you get some sanding done on the extremely icy rural side roads in your areas.
Saw where an ambulance could not make it to a call on Wright Ck. Road yesterday, icy hills. One of the Paramedics had to catch a ride to the scene with a passing local in a 4×4 truck and the patient was transported out to where the ambulance had stopped, for further transport to hospital.

metalman.

I just have 1 rant. Why is it when you take the off ramp from Hyw.16 to massey, that people making a left turn onto massey cross to the other side and stop for the oncoming traffic to clear before they proceed. Do they not realize that its their lane and they do not have to stop. I just don’t get some people.

tiredofthebullshit. Because of the way the left turn is set up, a lot of people do not realize that it is their lane as long as they stay left to enter Pine Centre, or signal right to merge with through traffic.

So, some go and some stop. This irritates those who know what’s going on, however I blame the City more than the drivers.

hardcandy. Your missing the symbolism . The Caged rocks are supposed to show the confluence of the two rivers in Prince George, the green things are probably fish. This was a concept dreamed up by the architects who of course get paid big bucks for such nonsense.

tiredofthebullshit: Probably the same people who slow down at a merge or speed up at a yield sign.

There is no off ramp from Hwy 16 onto Massey. :)

The problem with the intersection you’re thinking about is that there are a lot of people on Massey who will move over to the left lane to get to the mall without checking to see that it’s clear.

That and it’s really a very poorly designed intersection.

Everyone have a great winter games, good luck to all the athletes, and to all the volunteers, thanks for your time.

Not a peep . I guess us middle and lefties have found tory kryptonite . Thanks vice.com keep up the good work and give us more . Let the games begin .

“Get ready for the ice jams and flooding. I see Alcan is going to increase flow 50% at Skins spillway. Tough on river critters as well.”

-With the current high snow pack in the Nechako watershed we can stand some controled flooding.. The other option.. well just google Teton Dam.

Ataloss – a year and a half old story that was labeled “tabloid trash” by other media is all you have to hang your hat on? You lefties are more desperate than I thought.

Ah, Prince George, it all sounds so simple doesn’t it? “For Canada there is a great solution: Produce products and services which are unique, superior in quality and command premium prices – then export them globally to customers who have the money to pay for them! There are some countries that have been doing that for decades, successfully! Standing on the side lines while the others are competing is a recipe for failure.”

Yes, there are some countries that have been doing that for decades successfully. And as long as those products are ‘specialty’ items in relatively small demand, and even smaller supply, what they’re doing will probably work. But as soon as they become ‘commodity’ items, which they quickly do when others enter the same market? How well will it work for anyone then? How many IKEA’s does the world need? And if ‘everyone’ did like the Swedes were doing with that, how long would the Swedes or anyone else be doing it?

If there really was any money in making such ‘value-added’ products here, wouldn’t somebody here already be making them? No doubt they are, to the extent there is an actual demand somewhere for them, and the costs of their making can be fully recovered in price, plus enough of an incentive in profit to continue the process. But that seems to be rather limited in actuality.

Remember, too, now, PG, that we’re supposed to be doing this to create ‘jobs’. But when what we’re doing here has to compete with what someone else is doing elsewhere, and we’re both out to ‘capture’ the same market, we have to try to become more ‘efficient’ than they are. And the only way we can do that is to have MORE product output for LESS ‘labor’ input. So there goes the ‘jobs’. And with them, currently, the ‘incomes’.

Evolution, I have a great boss and the reason she is so great is that she allows us to get the job done without overseeing every little thing we do. Trust, respect and freedom; signs of a good boss. Now…some of the other people I work alongside?! Don’t get me started.

I have had some lousy bosses too. I remember one guy who showed favoritism to one employee only and then he wondered why the rest of us didn’t like that one employee (she knew she was favored and took advantage of it).

Being a boss is a tough job and certainly not everyone can do it. The communication skills alone to be a good boss are really hard. I believe that everyone should take communication skills courses in high school. Might make us all easier to get along with.

I can’t believe the people posting that there are no signs of the Canada Winter Games around town. I’ve seen lots. It would have been nice to have had a program whereby local businesses were helped with decorating their store fronts to support the Games. I don’t believe the businesses should have to put up lots of their own money.

Just want to comment about Otway. It has 1800 members, the most of any nordic facility in Canada. So it is definitely well used, and that doesn’t include the people who drop in. And then, in the summer, it is one of the most active mountain biking areas around, with some of the best trails you’ll find anywhere – all built with volunteer time and donated money. A lot of what happened there, was for the biathlon, and most of the contractors involved, donated their time. There were new trails built one of which included enhanced dog trails – so there is a place you can x country ski, and have your dog off leash.

I’m the first to admit, there are nordic snobs at Otway, but most of the spandex warriors out there are regular people just keeping healthy, and keeping the costs of the healthcare system down. If they got money for the Winter Games, it’s probably the one place where it benefited a fair chunk of the citizenry – at least the chunk not sitting at home eating frozen pizza and dying the slow death of obesity.

If it weren’t true vice would have found themselves in the courts . It’s on this evening just before real time on hbo . The real tabloid trash is msm pumping out right wing corperate propaganda . Yuuuuup kryptonite . Did anyone see which way Baird ran ? Steve should make him ambassador to some Adriatic country . I love the way tory supporters love to say things out of one side of their mouths . That was a year ago or that Duffy thing is old news . Out of the other side of their mouths comes the libs screwed everything up NINE years ago . By leaving us a huge surplus for the Tories to piss away , I guess .

I was just down town. There are herds of young people, mostly in blue jaackets, many of them carrying skis.

Palopu don’t forget the businesses that own buildings in city limits have also contributed a ton of coin to this “tax” for 5 years as well

Ataloss trolling for a rise but nary a soul biting, alas

Ya , isn’t great . The silence speaks volumes about just how powerful this is . I’m not trolling for a rise from the right . What I’m doing is showing the centre and left how powerful this is . The story is a year old but only two players have change position . If Tories want an American tea bag election , the centre and left should give them one . We are the majority , let’s not be the silent majority .

On this day in history 70-years ago Feb 13th 1945 with the war already won the single biggest massacre in human history took place with the fire bombing of Dresden by allied forces killing some 500,000 people in a firestorm like none other. A shameful war crime on a none military city designated as a safe haven for refugees, and a crime no one was ever held accountable for.

Here is another number from the same time period eagleone.

6,000,000

Or are you from the Ernst Zundel school of thought and currently have Winter’s “Six Million Fact or Fiction” on your bedside table?

Ataloss:
I tried to post the links to the vice.com article, but my post was not allowed I guess. The Conservatives have a lot of ‘splainn’ to do!

Eagleone, Germany surrendered May 8, 1945

You succeeded in. Posting the link . In a prior post on bill -51 story it must still be there but regardlessly it ain’t going away . Plus with most of the players still in place there will probable be more to come via the Adams family ( pun intended ) . After your posting the link there has been silence except today with a dismissive post and my bravo to you for posting .

Most estimates of the casualties from the fire-bombing of Dresden are around 25,000, nowhere near 500,000. The fire-bombing of Tokyo resulted in approximately 100,000 deaths.

I’ll try again…

Funny how conservatives seem to imply that Trudeau is somehow effeminate. Read this article for a reality check.

Just had a look herbster . Your link is still there . It’s in the comments on the ” anyone want a spring election ? ” but by all means post it as often as you like . Then the righties can seeth in silence , like now . It krytonite . Just like , ITS ABOUT THE ECONOMY STUPID . Because right now there is a about a million canadians that are way more afraid of lossing their jobs and homes than getting blown up by lunatics .

I have tried posting it again as well as other links to similar stories, but nothing appears. Didn’t realize that Opinion 250 was so solidly PC! People will find out the truth eventually, maybe the PC’s are hoping it will be after the next election!

And how many have died in over 200 Years of Slavery, just to compare Numbers!

See herbster . This really is free for all Friday . 250 is still balanced .

@Out west . We years ago when Oprah was asking for topics asked what happened to slaves when they got too old or infermed to work . We never got a reply . One knows what happened , right ? It must have been run on an industrial scale . That story is still under the carpet . Many of the slaves were also native North americans .

I must agree with Sparrow. Eagleone’s figure of 500,000 deaths for the Dresden bombing is hugely inflated. The “official” figure was 25,000 although some estimate an additional 10,000 unaccounted-for-refugees may also have been killed. And the war was not “already won” just a month or so earlier the Germans started the Ardenne offensive, the Battle of the Bulge”. And I won’t even mention Warsaw, London, Coventry, Liverpool and the other cities decimated by the German Luftwaffe; Air vice Marshall Harris’s comment was: they sowed the wind and now they shall reap the whirlwind”.

Hmmm… no Buffalo in North America Dragonmaster? So why does Parks Canada have a national park in northern Alberta called Wood Buffalo Nation Park? Why does the Siksika Nation, in Alberta, operate a historic site called Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump?

As for the woodland caribou being fine, then why are they a species at risk according to Parks Canada? Why are the West Moberly First Nation (near Chetwynd) insisting on the protection of their Burnt Pine woodland caribou herd?

Zero for two Dragon, try again.
===============================

You’re wrong dude! Do some actual research and learn.

Dragonmaster is correct, there are no buffalo in North America. We have bison. The confusion lies in the fact that European settlers called our bison “buffalo” because they resembled the buffalo that were found in Africa and Asia. They are different animals. Those darn settlers didn’t understand the biology of it all, LOL.

Looks like Harper’s communications director is quitting now as well. Interesting times.

Observation made this afternoon:

Black Loggingtruck bullying a small Car going up Peden Hill in the leftlane
just behind a Chiptruck, Black Truck moved back in to the right lane and is side by side with the small Car, next he pushed into the left lane and just about going over the small Car against the concrete Divider. This Person is not fit to drive anything bigger than Bike and I hope one Day he will loose his Licence before he kills someone with his big Truck. Just another Day sharing the Road with Idiots and the Irony is everyone had to stop for the Red Light at Domano!

Eagle, it’s already been alluded to in earlier posts, but how do you ignore the millions killed, and the dozen’s of cities decimated by the Nazis during WW2 while exaggerating the death toll in Dresden? Out of all the atrocities that were visited on humans during that war you focus on one singular event that probably helped to demoralize the Nazis and ended the war!
This kind of goes hand in hand with your stance, and several published opinions on Europe, the USA, and Canada standing up for the Ukraine while it tries to stave off annexation by Putin’s Russia!
Do you pine for the old USSR? Would you have enjoyed a world dominated by the Nazis? Only you can answer that!

As for woodland caribou, the entire species isn’t listed as being at risk by Parks Canada. They only list the southern mountain population as being at risk. That’s only one small distribution of the entire woodland caribou population across the country.

It’s all here to read:

You can read about it on the Parks Canada website. I tried to post the link but my message didn’t show up.

Interceptor:

The fact that the article is still up after a year and a half speaks to its accuracy. You can read it here:

But it is not the only media reporting this. you can read essentially the same story from different sources such as:

Steve Fonyo stabbed in home invasion: report (newsfeed)

Figures… a targeted attack..

Akanemo:”Eagleone’s figure of 500,000 deaths for the Dresden bombing is hugely inflated. The “official” figure was 25,000 although some estimate an additional 10,000 unaccounted-for-refugees may also have been killed.”

Nobody knows the exact number of victims. The death toll was very high as Dresden was chock full of civilians fleeing from the advancing Red Army. I heard (when I was a child) from a refugee survivor that the lowest verifiable number was in the 300,000 to 350,000 range.

In any case, it is all history now. The lesson to be learned is that war is hell and a bad peace is better than any so-called good war.

So copy starts games coverage with a story on Lebokoff… How’s that for reinforcing the cities image?

nyone know what channels on cable the opening Ceremonies gonna be on??? I don’t have TSN 2

Give it a rest sparrow. I am not nor have I ever denied the holocaust. Nor do I ever excuss war crimes whether by the nazi’s or by the even more murderous Stalin. Both were wicked war criminals.

My great grandpa was one of the first tank commanders in WW1 and went back for WW2 as well. I spent time with him before he passed and heard his stories first hand. Politicians of all strips will send our youth off to die die for their own personal misguided partisan ideologies, and that is what I oppose. Chicken Hawks like Stephen Harper who would gladly send your kids off to die for his own vendetta.. Facts be damned.

Should have read ckpg starts games coverage…frighten spell checker.

Some of you people are rediculous. A person can’t mention that’s it’s the anniversary of one of the most senseless war crimes of the 20th century without being labeled a nazi lover… In2015.

Same said people then defend the modern incarnation of the nazi’s in the Ukraine. Do some research before picking sides in an ugly war that is killing children and ruining innocent lives.

Remember the Ukraine recently passed laws to shoot on sight any deserters, makes it criminal to oppose the war on the east, and the Ukraine can now confiscate financial assets from anyone deemed not loyal to Kiev. That folks is fascism writ large… Backed by Harper with ‘all options on the table’.

Out west that guy is out of control.. Heard lots of stories about his aggressive passing out west, tail gating… I think I got a ball bearing in the windshield from him, also got passed just before the top of one hour tower hill by same truck (thankfully no oncoming traffic). He works for outfit at the top of Vanderhoof hill.

Nytehawk the war didn’t end until hitlers bunker was under assault. Demoralization didn’t end the war. The war ended because allies sacrificed a generation to stop hitler. Fire bombing Dresden was naked aggression and retaliation by small minded war criminals on innocent civilians and was a stain on the heroic efforts of our fathers and forefathers who did all the real dirty work to end the war.

Yea so what Eagleone ,,,, killers live everywhere. What should bother you more is Schoenborn might get out on a supervised day pass. WTF is with that? KIll three kids , go for a coffee , troubling. At least Heather from IPG has it right. She was on the news and Prince George is in central B.C. Not even the MLA had it right and she has lived here she said her whole life . Get it right people.

Ukraine recently passed laws to shoot on sight any deserters
not true
makes it criminal to oppose the war on the east
not true
and the Ukraine can now confiscate financial assets from anyone deemed not loyal to Kiev
not true
you have swallowed the propaganda hook, line and sinker

The 500k number is one generated at the time by the german propaganda machine. The actual number number of civilians killed in Dresden is not that much different from civilians killed in the UK when the luftwaffe blitz dropped rose petals on cities up and down the island including 57 consecutive nights on London alone.

In the words of Billy Pilgrim “so it goes”

Now the panhandlers are harassing people at the hospital. They stand by the parking ticket machine and ask for change.

Anyone check out the huge snowman they built for the games?

anyone know if the restaurants are busier than usual??

Whose propaganda machine generated the 6,000,000 number? Only a few years before the war a leading British-Jew Zionist, Mond, who was the head of Imperial Chemical Industries, estimated that there were, at most, only 6,000,000 Jews in ALL of Europe. Considering Hitler’s death camps never got any of the ones in Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, or the UK, and there were still a considerable number in Germany, Poland and other Nazi occupied countries who survived the Holocaust alive when the war ended, just where did that figure come from? Not saying it’s exaggerated and isn’t so, but I understand the death count multiplied rapidly after post-war West Germany agreed to pay reparations to relatives of the victims.

I see my attempt to start this thread on a lighter note has failed.

Happy Friday anyways ever cheerful ones:)

CRAZY… Biggest event in Canada and none of TV stations carrying live feed of opening ceremonies

I can’t imagine dwelling on the atrocities of a by gone era seventy years ago . Still counting the losses in some macabre tally for argument . You didn’t count the Hiroshima and Nagasaki men woman and children . Did you run out of room on your calculator ? They are all dead . It’s too late for revenge or justice . What matters is now .

Opening Ceremonies on TSN2, will play again tomorrow morning from 8-10:30 am. Good show, worth watching!

have a great sunny weekend and enjoy the Games!

eagleone

Was great grandpa shooting at or shooting from a tank that had an iron cross on the side?

ataloss

Ever heard the phrase ” Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it” ?

I am showing 8pm on TSN2 for winter games coverage tomorrow herbster. Is it on a different channel in the morning?

Socredible, you are kidding right? Anyone with one Jewish grandparent was considered a Jew by the Reich, 3 million in Poland alone not to mention other enemies of the state headed to the camps. The camps started in 1935 years before the Great War. They started as places to reform anyone who had Jewish ancestry. Germans kept meticulous records which were destroyed a few months before the end of the war, but they did find over 800,000 dresses in Auschwitz alone along with 8 tonnes of hair, were those ss cross dressing in their spare time?

Yes I’ve heard that phrase but history lessons are one thing , obsession is quite another .

My mistake, it is on TSN2 8:00 to 10:30 pm

Hey dragonmaster; remember this old song about the prairies? “Oh give me a home where the ________ roam, and the deer and the antelope play.” Everyone knows it buffalo and not bison.

But hey, I’m hungry could you please pass the “buffalo” wings? Perhaps you can make it your purpose in life to correct all the mislabelled things in the world. Like Koala Bears not being bears, but marsupials, or Panama hats not being from Panama, or the Canary Islands not being named after their many species of canaries, but rather from their dogs (Canines). I could go on, but what’s the use of being small minded and petty?

I should say “none of the BC TV stations” carrying live feed of the Opening Ceremonies.. AND the people back EAST in Ontario have it on their stations

Sparrow, he was a rancher in southern Alberta near Fort McLeod.

I thought the festivities were great tonight down at the Canada Games Plaza. It looks like it will be a great two weeks ahead for those that get out and enjoy it. We might be able to learns something of our area in the process.

My complaint of the night was the air inversion bringing in the stink from the pulp mills. I don’t think I ever smelt it so bad and usually don’t even smell it unless coming in from out of town. That’s unfortunate for confirming a nasty part of PG’s image.

The happening place to be looked to be at the native stage set up area. Looked like it was a fun place to be.

Oh and I forgot to mention, I’m sure the $45 million for the games… at least half of it was the cost of the Kin 1 rebuild, and that would have needed to get done anyways… so still at lot at $20+ million. I think make the best of it and it will be good for PG.
