Friday, February 20, 2015 @ 10:13 AM

Smithers, B.C.- The Independent  Investigations Office  has sustained jurisdiction in a matter that  involved Smithers RCMP and an adult male.

The IIO reports that on  February 14th,  police responded to a residence where an adult male was  distraught and emotional. According to police, officers had to use pepper spray to  help them bring the man into custody as he was refusing to cooperate.

Almost  immediately after being sprayed,  the man  became unconscious and Emergency Health Services personnel were called to the scene.  The man was taken to hospital, where he remains.

An IIO team of a Primary Investigator,  and investigator and  the Manager for Services for Affected People ( victim services)  arrived  in Smithers on Wednesday.

The IIO team has since  conducted numerous  interviews  with  civilians and police and has obtained additional evidence  from the scene.

The  IIO team is expected back at its home office today.

I some how doubt the pepper spray is totally at fault here…if at all.
the police have to have some tools to control the uncontrollable…
better than shooting them…
unless they are going to put doctors and or or psychiatrists in the cars to handle these people.

Amazing that some people are so stupid thinking they’re going to win a fight with the cops…

. . . or walk away uninjured or alive from such an encounter.
